EDGE — Restaurant in Woerden

We came for my husband's birthday with our two small kids and while the food was good the service was truly a disappointment.

We made reservations and arrived on time, yet it took 15 minutes before we were seated. There were plenty of tables ready and we had already talked to a server, but the server disappeared for 5+ minutes before my husband had to go flag him down to figure out what was wrong.

We were then seated inside, even though there were plenty of tables outside and no one else was seated inside. After that, we were ignored for 15 minutes before my husband asked for a table outside.

In total, it took 30 minutes for us to get menus and drinks, and over 60 minutes for us to get food. Tables that arrived after us got their food before us and with two little and hungry kids, it was difficult to explain to them why their food was still not ready.

Great pizza, great setting, they just don’t like tourists!

To clarify; as a non-Dutch person, I did not have a vpay card, and for whatever reason, the maestro cards were phased out of UK sometime ago.

I had; Amex card, not accepted. visa debit card, not accepted MasterCard credit card, not accepted MasterCard debit card, not accepted

I did not have cash and I did not have a local card. Luckily for me, there was a person in our group that was Dutch and was able to take the whole bill with the rest of us having to arrange to pay that person back.

Great pizza (We had 4 different pizzas, exchanging slices between us, so I got to taste 4 of them) and really great location. Nice staff, all the things that make you want to go back.

Except I can’t pay and I’m not going to carry cash just so I can have a pizza.

It is well worth coming to Woerden just to come to Edge. And you can couple that with a wonderful walk in nature around the lake. They have some gluten- free items, but be sure to expressly state gluten- free even if the item is marked as gluten- free, so that they take care in the preparation, which they will indeed. The atmosphere is warm in winter and nice to be out cocktail / sunglasses in summer. They can get very busy in summer on good weather days.
