Eten & drinken de Roerdomp — Restaurant in Zuidplas

Visited here twice whilst camping nearby - the campsite eateries were unwelcoming so we wandered down to find this gem. All staff were very friendly (who tolerated our poor Dutch linguistics), helpful and welcoming. The food is excellent, good portions and they have traditional Dutch offerings which we struggled to find elsewhere. Each time we ate here the food was accompanied by a generous portion of fritessaus and a delicious chopped coleslaw type salad. We managed to roll up without a booking but I imagine in the warmer months booking would be advised as lots of tables were already reserved for the evening at lunchtime. They are closed on a Monday and Tuesday, which for us was devastating as we would’ve eaten here much more if we could have!! Really excellent, would recommend if in the Zevenhuizen area - also it’s right on the edge of the Rottemeer which makes it even nicer...

Excellent food and the attention was also great. The people from the staff received us very nicely and fast. They put attention to what we needed and also help you even if you don't speak dutch, the waitresess were all very nice and fast while working, super friendly enviroment. Despite the restaurant being almost full, they served our meals pretty fast and with good presentation. Good drinks and affordable prices. It was a nice and relaxing lunch...

De hierboven staande reviews verbazen me. De locatie is uiteraard prachtig. Over de bediening ben ik neutraal.

Het eten echter. Wat een liefdeloze hap. Ik had een boterham met kip. Dat heb ik geweten. De boterham was bedekt met wat een kilo stukjes kip leek te zijn. Daar kon je met zijn drieën van eten. Terwijl ik best een grote eter ben, heb ik er op zijn best een derde van op. De kip was vrij smakeloos. Dat kon ook bijna niet anders. Maar 'gelukkig' zat er nog een plichtmatig beetje salade bij. Sliertjes kool en wortel in mayonaise op een bedje van sla dat zijn beste tijd gehad had.

Wat is nou "liefde" als het om eten gaat? Nou, dat is het verschil tussen je best doen om klanten iets lekkers voor te schotelen en daar eer in scheppen of plichtmatig iets serveren uit het handboek voor eetcafes uit de jaren tachtig: "hoe maak ik zo snel mogelijk een flinke hap vreten klaar zonder dat het me te veel moeite kost".

Zonde van het geld. Als je van lekker eten houd, kom je hier niet. Een keer nooit meer. Ik snap niet waarom deze post in eerste instantie geweigerd wordt. Het was gewoon niet goed. Dat mag toch? Er staat niets...
