CHROME Cafe — Restaurant in Bay of Plenty

Went there because I heard the chefs were on some tv show ,The building decor is lacking in charm or character , a half round barn , one nice 70 s display cabinet with some cheap tea sets in , did not go into sofa seating area which may have been more appealing . The food was grossly overpriced , two poached eggs 18 dollars add 3 dollars for one tomato , add a bacon slice 4 bucks and 3 bucks for two slices bread . , my omelette had boiling water running out of it and a sprig of parsley ,,, nice chutney ,,19 .00 , fair serving of scrambled egg , two coffees and pot of tea .. SEVENTY TWO DOLLARS. , It May be fair price by some people’s standard but the whole place has no appeal . I saw no garden as mentioned ,there was a nicely mowed lawn, a couple of established trees , I wish I had gone down to the local bake house...

Chips where nice, burger was ok, sausage roll microwaved but soggy needs a blast in the air fryer. Ordered pan fried fish and chips because of gluten allergies, fish came unseasoned and cold in middle, sent back to be cooked in the microwave probably. Wife then found a shard from a Stainless Steel pot Scourer. Picked out. Should have said something but had put it on the floor already, would not have been believed if I was hunting around on the floor to find it again, photo in hindsight, couldn't be bothered with creating a scene and did not eat the fish. Return visit after a number of years. New owners. Was a Monday so I think the B team was on. Not a very pleasant welcome from the staff. Not a smile or hello was given. I don’t think she wanted to be there. A couple of things: Door to fridge for cold drinks was ajar so drink was warm.
