Lushingtons Cafe — Restaurant in Canterbury

A very bad experience shopping for ornaments in the garden center. We asked for price of 2 ornamental tortoises and 2 ornamental elephants and asked to include shipping price to Auckland. Total came to $300 plus with delivery to Auckland quoted. No discounts, no free gifts and no waiver on delivery...it's ok, we accepted as we had set our mind in buying them so we spent some time selecting the tortoises and elephants without blemishes/chip off which proved to be a mission. We spent a good hour there and finally as they scanned the price and I was just a step away from tapping my paywave card at the Eftpos machine, they suddenly decided that the shipping cost is almost double compared to what they initially quoted us and told us to take it or leave it. I told the staff that we felt short-changed having spent so much of our holiday time (we are Aucklanders) selecting the items that we really wanted, though pricey, we have accepted the original quote (through no fault of ours, they quoted the shipping for the items that we wanted and we have not added any extra items or made any changes from the original quote) but they refused to honour their own quotation. We were forced to pay extra for the shipping despite voicing our dissatisfaction to the staff twice, they just refused to budge. I don't normally put bad reviews out in Google, but this experience compelled me to voice out. I would have not given any star if I can, but the least rating in Google is 1 star so I can't give lesser than that. This business is really unethical and not acting in good faith. They said these are new and high running product. You can take it or leave it. They are just concerned on making extra profit but not considered that we came for a holiday and had spent a good time in the store but instead tried to rip us off. We are just trying to support the regions. My advice to all is to stay away from the business if you are not a local, we have plenty of good businesses in Auckland and even around the regions that are much more ethical to support and spend...

What a place! Stopped in ashburton overnight at a motel, and needed a cofee and a bite to eat in the morning, we were out of luck and decided to wait untill timaru, as we couldn't find anywhere that was open and served what we wanted. On our way out of town we stumbled across this gem of a place, Lushington's cafe, we ordered coffes and they were done swiftly and tasted good, there was a wide range of cabinet food and even ice cream! Not only is it a cafe, but a garden centre too, while we waited for food we looked around, and found some very quality items at a good price. The cafe offers take away drinks and meals and has neat and clean toilets. I would totally recommend this for anyone passing through for a refreshing...

A very lovely experience here, the food was tasty and they didn't hold back on the extras we purchased.

The breakfast even came with a side of tomato and hollandaise sauce which I think should be the golden standard and it's good because so many other places in Ashburton charge extra for the basics like that.

The coffee was also great, it all went down a treat.

My partner couldn't finish her waffles, banana and bacon so I was able to swoop in and that was also divine.

Great mixture of maple syrup, peanut caramel and cream was really great, I'm not a sweet food type of guy but it was great mixture after the big breakfast.

10/10 the best breakfast I've had in Ashburton and I think I've nearly...
