Went to tai tapu pub today 24/3/19 told it was great. Ordered food and a pot of tea. Milk jug had not been cleaned had left over sauce from a meal still in it. Went to counter waited 15 minutes before served. Showed the older staff member. She took it no apologies and came back with a dip sauce bowl with large chips on the rim. Milk was off. Tea went cold. Thought okay. Maybe meal would make up for it. One hour passed no meal. Asked where it was staff falling over themselves could not get a straight answer so said we wanted money back. By this time one and half hours had passed. Got money back partner was finishing beer and people at the table across went to order. Tai Tapu staff decided no more food was being served. The customers were peeved. Tables were dirty they cleared them but didn't wipe them down. So we were starving by this stage so headed to Lincoln's pub the old grouse. Thought lunch menu would be off as it was hitting 4pm. No it wasn't. What lovely service at the grouse. The girl sitting at the bar heard us telling the staff and she said the same thing happened to her at the tai tapu pub a couple of weeks back. Waited and waited then was told they weren't doing food anymore. Venue is nice service is worst ever. Hygiene a big problem and by law a pub must have 4 types of food available if serving drinks. They served drinks but no food. Maybe the health inspectors and Selwyn council need to update the staff on the law. I suggest if you want to eat go to Lincoln's Old Grouse have your beverages then go to old tai tapu pub for band as you tummy will be fill and you would of had a beverage so the long wait at tai tapu for beverage...

My family and I consider tai tapu hotel our local and have been many times over the past few years. The service, quality and quantity of food had always been good. However when we went today there seemed to be younger, newer waiters with little customer service experience. I understand that they were busy but they told us our meal was going to take 30 mins to make and ended up taking 1.30 mins. When we went into the bar to get some more drinks since our meal was taking so long the bar staff was rude and ignored us when we asked for a jug of water with our other drinks. When our meals got there all were good apart from my daughters burger. The burger was raw in the middle. We told the staff this and they agreed it was raw and were going to make a new one. One of the staff then came out to us and told us we were wrong and that the beetroot had made the burger pink. We told them the beetroot had not seeped through to make the burger pink as it was only pink in the middle of the patty. They then said they would give the meal for free and replace it. It took them another half an hour to bring the new burger out. This time the chips they put on the plate were over cooked and inedible. At this point we just wanted to leave so didn't even mention it to them. We do love this place and it would be sad if we stopped going to them because of one...

Nice location. Pity that what was meant to be a nice 1-2 hr lunch turned into a relentless, ear pericing 3+ hours of waiting and having to yell to be heard. Music was far too loud (first three tables had kids and adults wincing and covering their ears - volume was not adjusted. Sighs of relief everytime the band stopped), nails sticking out of tables, no hot water in bathrooms, no vax passes checked. Had a booking, yet still waited over 1.5 hours for food (after lining up for 15+ minutes to order. No table service). Drinks - another 15-20 minutes of lining up each time. Food came while lining up - was cold by the time I got back. Few masks worn inside in these lines. No staff following up. Lots of people smoking in their "family friendly" outdoor area. Staff didn't seem to know what they were doing, or where tables were. Saw multiple plates of food carried around and presented to multiple tables - yuk. Very average fried bar food and...
