Extremely average. We went here as it was the only place open. Ordered the Bealey burger.. I think the menu descriptions need to be updated, it said the burger came with maple bacon, and I was given a plain piece a 1/4 size of the patty. I asked the staff if this was the regular amount, they went off and checked with the kitchen and said ā€œthat is the normal amount but it’s fine we’re making some more.ā€ The beef patty was the thinnest and driest I’ve ever seen, a frozen patty from Burger King would’ve tasted better. There was no ā€˜caramelised onion’ or pickle on my burger, and the lettuce was everything but crisp. The service was okay, but there was a clear decline in hospitality after our earlier query. Overall it seemed as though the place needed a good refresh/revise. I remember coming here as a kid and it being an awesome place! Was quite disappointed honestly.

A bit disappointed, was hoping for something better. Nothing looked very appealing on the menu so I went with the burger which tasted pretty good with all the stuff on it but the meat itself was a frozen patty that could have come from Burger King, the fries were soft and basically blah. Although pleasant, the wait staff seemed uninterested, I was done with my dinner for over 20 min when I finally got up to get a dessert menu and got the waitress's attention. I ordered the lava cake which took over 30 min for me to get after getting up to go to the bar and asked if they had forgotten about it, when it came it wasn't even warm, plus the whipped cream was from a can. There's a sign that says they're having a hard time finding staff and to be nice to them....I'm all for it!!! But it should go both ways. They were not exactly busy, room for improvement.

Disappointingly average meal. We ordered the Asian salad and loaded fries with no bacon as vegetarian options. The salad had no dressing and almost zero flavour except for capsicum, with not even any seasoning on the tiny tofu pieces. The loaded fries were the worst I have ever eaten, with the guacamole looking like a sad afterthought, and horrible cheese sauce. I’m not sure how the small bowl of average fries constituted a $16 price tag. The meat options looked okay.

Food was pretty good. Nothing special. Burger had an over cooked egg, the chicken in the pasta was dry. It was really our only option on our way to our airbnb. When we were seated, the server very quickly came over and asked for our order. I asked for a glass of wine, she asked for ID which was surprising since I have only been asked once while being in NZ in the past 5 years I've visited. I showed her my drivers license and she held it for a while and then quickly said she can't accept it and I have to get my passport. I said I'm not going to go out to the car to get it so nevermind. She said she has to ask for ID if I look under 25. My problem isn't that she wanted my passport ID, it was her tone and honestly what I assume to be racism since I am asian and to her "don't look my age". She was very rude and then avoided us the rest of the night, I believe she had another server take over, who ended up being much better. Very unprofessional, she could have asked much more politely. Seats were also pretty cheap and uncomfortable. I hardly ever give...
