Want to sample the best coffee in mid Canterbury? Then take a drive out to the Staveley Store. Nestled beneath the forested slopes of Mount Somers, close to some superb bush walks and alpine hikes, the store is a Staveley institution. Established in 1876 as a general store servicing the surrounding timber mills and farms, the store continues that tradition with its selection of locally-sourced meat, home-baked goods and sausage rolls that are the talk of the county!

The cafe has a charming ambience that really captures the local flavour, making it a pleasant place to dine. The staff were very welcoming and added to the overall positive experience.

Overall, trying these local specialities was a highlight, offering a taste of something new and distinctive compared to what I...

I understand it being a busy cafe especially on Sunday, but surely there's a better way to manage food quantities though? My croissant was chewy, and not crunchy. I'm not quite sure how cabinet food can take 40 minutes when it's mosrly prepared and heating it via a microwave took 40 minutes 🤔 We left feeling very dissatisfied and...
