I saw this on the route from Otira to Christchurch. Since it shows up on Google as World Famous, we had to check it out. Unlike what is mentioned in previous reviews, thankfully the line wasn't very long and they were only out of 3 pies. The ladies manning the counter are all very nice. The shop is small but has several tables. It is more of a place to pick up pies and coffee on your road trip. I got the Sheffield Supreme with steak, bacon, cheese and onions. My friend got the Chicken, Apricot, and Brie pie. The Sheffield Supreme was excellent! I have previously tried the Lamb and Mint, Mince and cheese, and the Chicken, cranberry and Brie cheese pies at different places in South Island. Amongst these, the Sheffield Supreme had the best flaky crust and flavor with the Lamb and Mint from Arrowtown Bakery. My friend enjoyed her Chicken pie but thought that her pie was too heavy due to the cheese. Having previously had the brie based pie, I second that. But, crust wise, it is a great pie. I definitely recommend stopping here if you have a few minutes. It is along the highway and there is tons of parking along the road. If I ever come back to Sheffield or Christchurch, I shall be back!

We stopped by for a late lunch on the way back to Christchurch from the ski fields. I place isn't too hard to find since it is on the main highway, just keep an eye out for all the parked cars in the area. There is quite a bit of street parking on both sides. It wasn't too busy when we arrived so we opted to eat in. They have so many flavours in their pie rack that it was quite hard choosing just one. In hindsight, I probably could have gone for two but I was also interested in trying out their sweet treats in the cabinet beside the pies. I tried both the venison pie as well as the Sheffield supreme and I definitely preferred the supreme. The bacon and onion with the beefy gravy was divine. The cheesecake was ok, as were the shakes. The fruit pie, peach and passionfruit, was surprisingly tasty since the passionfruit flavour wasn't overwhelming. It was definitely a great pit stop since the pies were really tasty. The only sad part was that we had to leave the snow early since they do close at 1600 but it was kinda worth it.

Summary 3.5/5: good pie, reasonable price. The location 5/5: if you are driving past State Highway 73, there is no reason not to stop by for a pie here. About 5 parkings available in front, otherwise, park by the main road. The food 3.5/5: We had their signature pie Sheffield Supreme and Venison Herbs, each cost $7.50. The pastry was ok, although not so flakey. The beef in Sheffield Supreme was a bit tough and dry. The Venison Herbs Pie was moist but the herb flavor is not noticeable. Wish there's more meat inside. The atmosphere & service 4/5: Busy but good vibes. There's very limited tables in the shop, most will have to take away or eat outside. The staff is patience with the customers taking time to understand the menu, which is good. Suggestions: To have the menu available online, put a QR with the menu. so when customers queue-ing for their turn to order, they can scan the QR for the menu and study the menu upfront.

Drove past, saw the line and nearly didn't pop in but no idea when we'd be back in the area so decided to anyway. Queue moved pretty quick. We were there midday so some options were running low but new ones came out pretty quick. No vegan or gluten free options which was a bit disappointing. 3-4 options for fruit pies. Fair few slices and muffins available too. Pies were decent price and pretty big. Apparently the Sheffield Supreme (i think!) was really good, apple pie too - not overly sweet. If meat pies are your bag recommend swinging by, folk with dietary supplements may not find much, but your meat pie loving buddies will be happy so just bask in that 😊

Nice little pie shop near the road. Nothing much else around this area. There are a large selection of fresh pies to choose from. There is one selection of vegetarian pie. There are several deserts to choose from. This is not really a dine in restaurant...you get your pie and you go. Eat it on their provided seating or take it in your car. The pies are average, they're not the best but they're still nice. Same goes for the deserts. Definitely give this place a visit if you find it on your travels, there's a wide selection at very reasonable prices. The service here is amazing. The workers are the friendliest and nicest !

It was crowded even around 3pm on a Saturday and the freshly baked pies go out very quickly. I had to switch to a steak pie because the chicken & mushroom pie I had in my mind was not available. However, they do restock them pretty quickly. The pie was a little too meaty for my liking, but would be an absolute party for someone who loves steak. The hot chocolate was one of the best I have ever had, and was a perfect combination with the pie. They also have freshly baked biscuits to take away and they taste perfect! Overall, it was a nice experience.
