I have been pondering what feedback I should provide, but here it is! Well where does one start? Absolutely great facility and superb friendly staff, BUT... we were offered a 4 course menu at $65 per head (or $95 per head for 6 courses) for New Years eve, only to discover that what was dished up was a sharing plate between two. First course was 4 slices of carrots in two different colors .... SERIOUSLY? Apparently this menu was an experiment .... totally gone wrong!!!!!!! I have provided a screenshot of the menu, and there was no reference to sharing plate nor were we advised of this. Had we known this, we would have perused an alternate menu, or gone elsewhere. They got away with it this time, and we will NOT be back anytime soon. $180 for a meal and a couple of drinks, not to mention the drinks prior to the evening which were on top of that figure. We know of another table who were heading back to Queenstown to Fergberger for a decent meal. Overall most disappointing, and I guess the folk we were with are just too polite to provide an honest appraisal. Atmosphere is worth 5 stars but tainted by our bad experience. The response from the owner is most disappointing - bordering on arrogant! My review is an honest appraisal and is NOT " an interesting interpretation of the evening". Might be even more interesting if we were to seek advice with regards to the Fair Trading Act and a misleading menu. WHAT A RIP-OFF! Still no satisfactory resolution from management, so I guess they just don't care !!!!!! Although they really should, because they are missing out on business - and the sole reason why not one of us in our group returned for New Year 22/23! and unlikely that I will ever...

Lovely interior and great wine and good service; sadly the food was incredibly overpriced for what it is. We had 4 Small tapas all between $25-30ea - between 3 of us - dish 1 was Chorizo with butter fried egg and poor man's potato - Locally made chorizo, pan fried egg and potato $30 this dish was basically a bubble and squeak. The size was one small chorizo sausage (about 8 small pieces the size of a 5c coin) mixed with one potato diced up; some other flavours and topped with a fried egg. Exactly what it was egg and potato.
Also had the Albondigas Handmade pork and beef meatballs in a traditional tomato and capsicum sauce (gf) $27 for 3 tiny meatballs (golf ball size) in a tomato sauce which tasted like it came from a watties can. Then there was the Tempura cauliflower in mild gochujang sauce at - came in a small bowl at $28. Finally the lamb one would expect at $35 it would be a restaurant mains size… one small plate with mash potato and a tiny piece of lamb. To try and divide that into 3 was a joke. One dessert spoon each. Was hoping it might have been nicely sliced pieces of lamb a nice zus and some mint perhaps.
We left still feeling hungry. Expect to pay out of your pocket for very small servings. Unfortunately the experience has left me wanting to warn others (and I ever do google reviews) Won’t be back! Highly recommend you change your serving sizes or drop the price. If you did them between $15-$19 and then recommended 5-6 between 3 people you’d in return see more people coming back.
One star for the atmosphere and one extra star for the service. Nil for...
Read moreCame here for lunch to meet family, hustling pub 10+ pple arrived after us. We were told itl be 15mins to be seated, plenty of space to wait. We ended up Seating ourselves due to the lack of organisation for FoH and procedded to gather our own menu and continue to the bar to order. We then got returned to our original table to order as there was a waitress around somewhere to take orders. Food took 40-45 mins to get to our table. For the quality of food and consideration to how busy the pub/hotel was on a Sunday 1pm, I'd rate everything average (2and1/2 stars) . Could've been better with a little more communication in regards to waiting time. And i believe the average food is being prepared by a less than average kitchen crew. A stronger leader and communication is needed to push this place to a higher standard and efficiency but I THINK management knows this. I recommend If this place is busy . Go somewhere else, if they are quiet , MAYBE you may get your sandwhich in a reasonable...
