287 Cafe Motel — Restaurant in Hawke's Bay

Called in at 287 cafe on Sunday, very run down limited food options couldn't even get a toasted sandwich my order didn't turn up at the table so had to go and ask for my food just to be told that he had forgotten it , while I was at the counter a guy was made the wrong coffee so the attendant ask some else to serve the man his coffee and with that went and sat down not even a sorry to the customer. Food is mediocre. We had the seafood sampler. Small pieces of deep-fried shrimp, calamari, fish and scallops. They tasted like the kind you buy in a frozen package at the supermarket. At NZ$28, we expected better. they had chicken on the patio making a lot of noises and one flew on our table top wanting food! The service girl at the counter was not very helpful and has an attitude when inquired about items on the menu. Too many great cafes in NZ with better service and food. Not...

Great spot. Unfortunate that the service was less than average. Guy at till was ok but didnt seem to know alot about gluten free options and when asking another staff member she didnt even bother to look at me when just continually saying no to everything I asked regarding gf options.
