I was really disappointed today when I had to wait for 30 minutes for a latte. Once it arrived I was told there were no teaspoons available. No apology or nothing. The attitude of the staff was also disappointing. I will not be going back there again.
Review from Ray Vandenberg Hi...It was a crazy busy time, so will not go a sunny Sunday morning anymore. Coffee took a long time and was warmish. Was told there were no more tea spoons so I stirred with my glasses. Great playground for kids , dog friendly and plenty of parking. The dog had a good time. Best custard squares in the world. Customer waited with a patient attitude. Will not go at busy times as counter staff member made you feel like you were annoying her by simply being a customer. Hopefully when it is not so busy she can manage a smile or a thank you. At busy times it would be polite to let customers know that there could be a long wait for heated food and coffee and that there may be a chance of not getting a teaspoon. Warmish coffee was good, but warm-ish. My wife never said in her review that the staff were slack and my wife's attitude was polite. To reply on face book that it was "good" that my wife did not wish to go to the cafe again is shocking to say the least. No one said anything about wizards, and we were not rude and most people do have two arms and 300 teaspoons is a lot to wash, and then a whole lot of bike riders come in with tight pants showing their bits and pieces...Yep, it was one of those days. Just a bit of communication is not too much to ask for. There is not much competition in Waipukurau so maybe that explains it. Great custard squares though! 5 stars for them! If a customer gives an honest review that you do not approve of, don't attack them...be professional and kind. Most business owners would be singing for joy with so many customers in an economic down-turn. Gotta love those custard squares! But not those...
Read moreGreat find! Stopped on our way to Napier and we left full and happy.
Flat white and latte were made strong the way we like, and we enjoyed a salmon + cream cheese and chorizo, bacon + halloumi crepe. Loved the crepe idea, something different then your standard egg cup or quiche. One word of warning though, the cream cheese was molten hot when I tucked in to my crepe, best give them a minute to cool down!
Cafe was buzzing but service prompt and lots of seating available. Didn’t have room for a real fruit ice cream but several workers came in, must be regulars, and ordered 🍦 for takeaway and they looked divine, and only $5!
Will plan to travel this way again so we can indulge in other treats from Hatuma ❤️
Free wifi, clean toilets and no steps...
Read moreDidn’t see any savoury options for a vegan diet so bought some fries. They tasted like month old beef burger oil and could not finish. Coffee was fine. Cafe smelt of grease and was filled with children. Staff were friendly and welcoming.
I think if you want a big breakfast or a heavily meat-based meal, or you needed somewhere to bring kids then this place is probably great. Big decking and playground out the back which seemed popular.
———————- Revisited: Ordered vege salad and found a chunk of bacon in it - probably accidental cross contamination but at least use a different spoon for each salad? Coffee was again the best part of the visit. Zero vegan options again and I’m not sure there was even a vege hot...
