This is hands down the greatest dining experience I have ever had in my life.

The location. Insane, a dream to dine among the clouds with views to Ruapehu, Ngarahoe, AND Taranaki. The cabins are gorgeous and so comfortable. Beyond words.

The food - phenomenal! It has ruined everything I will ever eat again by being so incredible. So much thought and care has gone into every dish, crafted to perfection showcasing HYPER-local ingredients. On another level to anything I have eaten before anywhere in the world. Each course topped the last which was no easy feat over 10 courses!

Special shout out to the wine match which expanded and levelled up the experience. I have done wine matches before but nothing that exploded and changed the flavour to such an amazing degree as this.

The level of care that Chef Jack and his team give every person is amazing. I felt so looked after and was also just so much fun!

Also the fact that Blue Duck Station is such a huge champion of local conservation in the Whanganui/National Park region is just another reason to go to this spot.

If you are even half considering going here. DO NOT WAIT!! This is an insane experience that should be world famous. A true bucket list for any...

Four of us enjoyed a not to be missed evening at this tiny restaurant at the Top of the World in Blue Duck Station. The safari trip up on an ATV is part of the experience. The restaurant is a newly built wooden construction built and owned by Jack the brilliant chef. It stands at the highest point of the station with a wonderful 360° view of the mountains.

The 12 course degustation menu was created from local ingredients, many of them foraged, and every course was presented immaculately with extraordinary and creative attention to detail. The tastes were all remarkable - umami and saltiness; sweet and sour - and smooth textures mixed with crunch and pop.

The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful with just the right level of attentiveness. We were able to walk around outside between courses and at other times watch Jack at work creating the dishes that he had so carefully curated.

All in all a remarkable evening that beats any degustation experience we have had before. Up there with any Michellin starred...

We had dinner here to celebrate our 55th wedding anniversary and was definitely blown away by the food, wine matching and service.

We have been to a lot of restaurants and had degustation dinners but this night has had to be the best ever. The food Devine, the flavors were so intense, the attention to detail was outstanding and the wine matching was the icing on the cake.

What a great job the team of Jack, Clover and Ben did of making our night out feel so special and as though we were the only people they were looking after. Also the personal message at the back of the menu meant so much.

We have passed on our experience to friends and family and know some of them are already looking at making this there next special destination.

Unfortunately we couldn't stay in the cabins this time but will definitely be back and book in plenty of time to...

We absolutely loved our Blue Duck Station and Chefs Table experience. The adventure to get to the restaurant and cabins was so much fun! The cabins were so beautiful. The restaurant was breathtaking. But what we loved most was the people - from Sandy at the cafe who was so kind, to Mel and Sam who drove us to the top who were so fun and knowledgable, to Clover who was so attentive and warm and to Jack and Ben the absolutely incredible chefs behind it all. The food was absolute perfection (I’ve never had anything like it and I eat a lot!) and we loved the intimate experience with the personalised touches. Definitely a bucket list experience and we’re so glad to have had the opportunity to visit. Thank you everyone!

The Micheline Guide used to define two stars as a restaurant worthy of making a detour when travelling. If that still holds they deserve at least one as we made a 4 hour detour to eat at this amazing hilltop near private dining experience (10-12 guests max per night). The food was excellent and Jack managed to show the local fare at its best. One of the highlights was a local fern which had an amazing texture. I was also impressed by the wine pairing which again and again managed to enhance not only support the dishes. It was also great that they offered half pours for the wine tasting - which allowed me to stay sober enough to write this review… All in all worth the detour…

I'd say this is New Zealand's ultimate dining experience the journey to The Chef's table will already put you on a different level of enticement on top of the world as what they say it's literally on top of a mountain with 4 tables per seating you'll probably feel like you in The Menu movie greeted by the chefs upon arrival then the food service starts on every degustation there's a hit and miss moment however that doesn't exist here I've tasted mixture of flavours I haven't had I had koru that I didn't even know is edible its a once in a lifetime moment and I think everyone who visits New Zealand should experience this level of genius
