Worst Dining Experience in a long time! We were hoping to get a nice Sunday breakfast this morning which turned out to be a complete waste of time and utterly disappointing experience. There were about 5-6 staff while only around four groups of customers eating so I definitely wouldn't say it was busy. The waitress was extremely unprofessional saying yeh and sweet to our order choices. Her whole persona was very unprofessional like she didnt want to be there. After ordering breakfast and waiting for about half an hour the girl came back saying that they had lost our order and asked what we wanted... with no applogy at all. So I asked if this meant they hadn't started our meal at all and she replied no we lost the order. I wouldn't have minded if the situation was handled more professionally but the staff member didn't apologize for the mistake nor seem to be worried that we waited for 30minutes and that our order got lost somewhere between the short 10metre walk from our table to the kitchen. Very disappointed and will definitely not return nor recommend this to anyone especially considering there are so many nice and exciting cafe's in and around...

Had brunch here last Saturday. Very very busy, day b4 mothers day, so they were turning people away as fully booked and no spare tables. We were lucky enough to grab an empty table outside. The cafe has a peaceful setting with lovely gardens and an art n craft gift shop next door. Theres onsite parking too but next door in a field area. Cafe has both indoor and outdoor settings and you order from a menu that includes normal cafe food at average prices plus cabinet food is available. The homemade cake selection is surreal, yum yum. Although we had abit of a wait for our meals we didnt mind. There were plenty of staff working and we enjoyed sitting outside chatting to staff working in the kitchen thru the open window next to us. Only suggestion we have is staff check customers drinks. We were waiting for staff to come back to ask if we wanted to reorder again. If trying here then suggest you book. Overall a good experience even with an unfortunate incident of one customer leaving...

We thought we would try this cafe on our trip home from Kawhia to Tauranga, as it had advertised on the road side as having garden art as well. It looked very inviting and the staff were lovely, BUT the open sandwiches we ordered were so disappointing. I very much doubt the steak was scotch fillet as was on the menu. It seemed lined a very thin sirloin. Instead of a beautiful bread underneath there was also a small thin piece of bread, not like the brioche bread you would expect. A few pieces of green leaves called a salad. Chips aplenty but not what I call a healthy meal which was what I wanted. For $27.00 a person it was highly overpriced for what we got. As I said the staff were lively as was the setting but no garden art either. We were disappointed we didn’t carry on a bit longer and have lunch at the mitre 10 cafe where we went shopping. Will not be going back because of quality of food and false advertising on main road sign...

We had a very poor lunch experience at Lily pad cafe. We were a group of 12 and told there would be a 20 minutes wait for food and we waited 65 minutes for the first meal and the rest came out over a 10 minute period. We had 6 kids at our table and nothing was offered to keep them going until the meals came - we had to ask for this and received chips that were too hot to eat and undercooked. Our meals were inedible - the fish and chips was $26 and consisted of some undercooked chips and a single small piece of the most revolting fish I’ve tasted - we didn’t eat it. The avo smash was some mashed avo on toast. We expressed our disappointment and were given a 50% discount on the inedible fish and chips only. The smoothies however were lovely. We have been regulars at lily pad for years and unfortunately will not return. A total disappointment which is a shame because it is a beautiful location and outlook and we have loved it in the past.

This cafe is nestled in and among an outdoor art gallery. The yard art creations are amazing and awe inspiring. The cafe was bustling when I stopped in for a coffee and to do a little work in the road. The WiFi is strong and so is the coffee! Wait staff was friendly and a number of tables were reserved for brunch, so it appears to be a hopping place. The venue asks that no pictures are taken but I did sneak one of the friendly chicken that followed me around! I did not sample the food but the atmosphere of this open cafe was spot on! There’s a spot for children to play and more creativity abounds in the layout of this cafe. It’s inspiring - stop in! You’ll love it!

Have driven down from Auckland many times to meet up with my lovely Family ❤️ who have driven over from Papamoa for Family lunch catchups, several times!!! Latest one was for 9 of us, including 3 children/teenager- Sunday 26th October 2025 I bought down my husband for his 75th Birthday Surprise catchup and it was lovely yet again!!! Always delicious 😋 Service quick and the setting is lovely!!! We had the loveliest lady serving us - she was so very helpful and smiled the whole time!!!! Even got a lit candle for hubby in our Carrot Cake 🎂 Thoroughly recommend Lily Pad Cafe to everyone!!!!
