I was lucky enough to have my 70th birthday here, with a twist, my wife surprised me with a renewing of our vows ceremony, at the Porthouse Bar and Eatery. It's our local so it was the obvious choice, along with great food, fantastic staff and the perfect venue for a private function. Many of our guests were staying locally so the pickup and drop off courtesy vehicle provided made for a worry free night. Helen and her manager Sam with her team made it absolutely stress free, we hired a live band and the food was on time and hot. Warren and his team in the kitchen were amazing, bringing out plates of delicious finger food for 50 guests. The evening was amazing and the guests were very impressed with the venue and the professionalism of all the staff that made it happen. Thank you Helen, Sam, Warren and the team. We highly recommend the Porthouse Bar and Eatery for your next occasion or just pop in for a meal and drink as...

What a hidden gem! second time we come here over the last two years. I still remember these were the best burgers I ever had in my life. Tonight we went for the mixed platter. OMG those prawn twisters and spring rolls! Out of this world. You can taste the home-made-ness. The garlic bread made with authentic ciabatta (when you're italian it does make a difference). The outdoor setting area is dreamy, the staff friendly and attentive. Congratulations to the chef of the house. Ruakaka doesn't have a lot of places for tourists to hang around and this is the perfect hideaway with beautiful food you know it won't disappoint. They have happy hour, quiz night, Etc. Don't forget to stop by on your way to Whangarei. Big thanks from an...

Absolutely top-notch! The Porthouse Bar delivers an outstanding dining experience that’s hard to beat. The burgers are easily among the best I’ve had—juicy, flavourful, and piled high with fresh, quality ingredients. Each bite is pure satisfaction. The thick-cut fries are a standout in their own right—crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and seasoned to perfection.

What really sets the Porthouse apart, though, is the service. The staff are warm, attentive, and genuinely seem to enjoy what they do, creating a relaxed yet polished atmosphere. Whether you're popping in for a casual meal or staying for a few drinks, you'll feel well looked after.

A must-visit spot—five stars...

Wonderful service. Pity the FOH lady, welcoming and busting in and out of service all on her own. But job well done! Even gave us a fan to shoo away the flies. Great initiative, you got there, girl! 👍 Porthouse Bar and Eatery and its guests are very lucky to have you. Food was of good servings too. We had hawaiian pizza, uhm a bit on the saltier side than sweetness from pineapples but not bad. The beef thai salad dressing was great too, beef a bit tough but overall good. Had a glass of beer for $6. Stoked. 🌻 they got pretty good specials on days, too! See photo. 😀

Nice easy place to grab a bar meal 😋 friendly helpful staff. One thing it could help with the experience is that it had no real vibe or feel .It's not our first visit here, but I have always felt something was missing it had a TV on no music to set a mood .But the waitress took or ordered, and we asked for the fettuccine to be extra creamy, and it was perfect. So Thanks Porthouse it was so delicious 😋 for that meal, and the chowder we will be back .
