What a fantastic place. We were there late in the afternoon, as the last winery we visited for the day. We didn't have a meal, and yet were there for a long time, despite being the only guests. To say that we were looked after was an understatement. We were taken through the full range. The winemaker's take on some varieties was astounding, along with a couple of award winners. There were wines for everyone, with some that we will drink with family on Christmas Day, to others that have gone in the wine fridge for years. We shipped a box back home and it probably won't be the last. The winery has a fun vibe with great wines. And no, I was driving, so it wasn't just the fact that it was the 'last winery of the day' and a few wines that made it fantastic! It did, however, top off the day.

Te Awanga Estate at Hastings was our next stop after our purchase at Mission Estate Winery. Reviews of Te Awanga Estate revealed poor service and the premise being overcrowded. Our experience however, was an excellent one. Planning ahead, we avoided the crowds and had a wonderful time at Te Awanga… The drive way to Te Awanga Estate is a long gravel road that leads to the entrance of the restaurant. Along the way, we were greeted by views of the vineyard… Also known as Cellar Door, the in-house restaurant and wine-tasting area is where visitors can enjoy views of the 42 acres of vines at Te Awanga Estate, enjoy some great pizza and platters while sipping on wines from the estate… For more details of this review, visit 2bearbear today!

A lovely setting, tasting, and lunch. We appreciated the flexibility on arrival—our son had endured a tasting prior and was in need of a pizza. We got him settled into a table, put in an order, and then enjoyed a tasting. One of us only prefers whites, and so accommodations were made outside of the normal tasting options to add in a couple more whites to try. Grateful for the personalization and service. We found a bottle to take home, and we all enjoyed a few slices of pizza looking out over the vineyard view.

This year for our Xmas work do we decided to do a winery tour on bikes (with thanks from Coastal Wine Cycles - Charlotte offers amazing service). Our first stop was Beach House wines - fantastic wine tasting experience, from the Ladies there... Our second stop was Te Awanga Estate - these Ladies were so welcoming, accomodating and thoughtful. They created a great atmosphere for us under the trees in a idealic setting with blankets and other thoughtful touches.....stunning location, great food (asparagus, lemon, parmesan & mint wood fired pizza! Who knew it would be so delish, it really works!), excellent service and hosting....wine was ab fab too:-) great experience, thank you Ladies! We so enjoyed ourselves, catering for all 18 of us seemed so effortless by you and I really appreciated the pre planning support and ideas you gave me. Elephant Hill was an impromptu stop and Clearview was our last stop - both had a team member that let their teams down sadly. Highly recommend including Coastal Wine Cycles, Beach House Wines and Te Awanga Estate in your future winery tours for a great experience:-) ....The three of you left a brilliant lasting impression on us and we're all still talking about when we'll return with our family...

My rating is based on service not the wine! My son and daughter in law had booked several weeks in advance for our visit for wine tasting as we were coming down Sunday from Auckland for my birthday. We received an email confirming our booking yet were told by Greta when we arrived they were far too busy today to do that but she had reserved a table outside. The weather was beautiful but there were no umbrellas out and for a busy sunny day i would have thought this would have been a priority for keeping customers comfortable...also no water was offered or bought to our table ....we had an excellent lunch at Clearview with informative pleasant staff and purchased wine there and arrived hoping to taste and purchase wine that we liked at Te Awanga. I did enjoy the Rose i had but because of the poor service i chose not to buy...we went onto Black Barn where the staff were lovely and informative and the setting relaxed and welcoming with great background music and excellent wine which we...
