The Deck Cafe — Restaurant in North Island

Inexperienced/care free staff, who seem not at all interested to be working there. Went in with my 7 month old and wife today, got told to either sit outside or at entrance door table! I thought it was some sort of a joke as the place was dead quiet.

Even if we did decide to sit inside, i doubt it would have hindered anything. Just a simple table wipe and chairs tucked in and voila! Let us decide, because we are paying customers. Your business needs us! Not otherway around.

I didn't fuss much, as probably the wait staff was simply following owners instructions and sat outside with my family, even when it started drizzling the waitress didn't have courtesy to check on us and invite us inside.

Why should we ever return here? Matter of fact imagine how many more people we are going to share this bizarre experience with??

Guys, this sort of behavior is a minus in front of the customers eyes and you're not doing any favours. Guests return to an establishment based on treatment and initiative from service staff.( I am an ex hotel manager/ hospitality professional).

I am writing this because i really hope you guys pick up on the service side of things as the cafe is in a top spot...

I have never seen service of this calibre in a cafe before. The staff make an effort to get to know you as an individual and have remembered name and aspects of my life from previous conversations that they have instigated. My daughter sees the owner as a friend due to how friendly she genuinly is.

Food wise they have a great variety of healthy options including vegan and gluten free plus even got in a milk especially for me.

If there was more than five stars I would give them and I encourage anyone who hasn't been to go and check it out plus enjoy the sea view while there or the many beaches and Bushwalks which are walking distance from...

Went to the cafe twice today. First time the staff served a lady 2 behind me first. Saying she only wants a coffee, which is exactly what I wanted. Second time I rang to see when the kitchen closed, they said 5pm. So we came in at 4.20pm. Doors were closed 3/4 of lights off. Looked like it was closed. We order food, and reluctantly they served us and turned a light on. We really felt unwelcome. No background music, no atmosphere. Feel like they could have been so busy if they wanted to. Missing out on a lot of business. BLT's and fries was nice. Just wonder if it's under new...
