The worst dining experience I’ve ever had - terrible customer service and thoroughly disorganised. We arrived at 6pm Saturday for drinks and dinner (group of 8) and left disappointed after pretty much being shooed out at 8:30pm. On arrival, there were a few groups but it wasn’t too busy. We understood that staff were serving, but after 15mins of waiting, one of our party ended up asking for a cloth to wipe the table down ourselves. Drinks were terrible and barely drinkable (luckily we have a few who couldn’t let a drop go to waste), we were told they had run out of CO2 so nothing on tap could be served. We had a choice of a small selection of bottled beers that were quickly dwindling or spirits. There were no ciders, but we did get the last can of a lemon/vodka RTD. Once the CO2 issued had been resolved the few jugs of Marley we ordered were tasteless, almost flat and one jug had to be topped up with cider on tap as they ran out of Marley halfway through pouring. Food was quick to get to the table and tasted reasonably fine, although it was cold and one of our party had to change their choice due to there being no pulled pork. At about 7:15pm we were told that the kitchen would be closing soon so we ordered dessert, and then at 7:50pm we were told that they were going to close up the bar as well, so we ordered our last round of drinks. By 8:30pm we were rushed to finish our drinks, our tables were cleared, the music was turned off and staff came to reshuffle the tables that we were sitting at… the closing time is listed as 10pm… I understand that everyone has bad days and this shift was one where everything seemed to be going wrong, but the level of service and professionalism shown during this was shocking. We would have been more than understanding if the staff were apologetic and maintained a level of professionalism and good service but instead it was quite awkward as a customer to be standing at the bar while staff were complaining and bickering amongst themselves in front of us. Overall a bad experience, the only redeeming things were that the heaters were fab and that the cheesecake was delicious, but aside from that we definitely...
Read moreHad previously been here and had a wonderful experience however things seemed to have changed drastically. Wait staff were the most unfriendly and unbothered I have ever met in Hawke’s Bay.
We ordered some burgers which were OK when they were eventually eaten however two of the three orders came out wrong and had to be sent back. One was ordered without aioli and was served with the statement ‘this is the one without aioli’ however it was covered in aioli.
It’s rather off putting to see the chef coming out onto the customer deck to have a vape. If your staff need to vape they should at least do it somewhere more private.
We booked online and requested a high chair however when we arrived they apparently do not have high chairs. That’s a choice they’re within their right to make however it would’ve been nice to have been told there are no high chairs when the acknowledgment email was sent through as we would’ve brought our own instead of dealing with a squirmy 1 year old...
Read moreI never leave reviews, but Garden Bar, Three Wise Birds deserves it. My family and I come in for lunch there, and it was an unforgettable experience. The food was absolutely delicious and perfect for a cold day. What truly stood out was the exceptional service from Lockie, our bartender, who is the very symbol of hospitality. Lockie’s warmth and attentiveness made us feel genuinely welcome, especially as he provided table service for my wife and mother-in-law, both of whom have injuries. As someone with hospitality experience, I would hire Lockie in a second. We’ll definitely be back, and on Lockie's recommendation, we plan to visit their other establishment, The Pavilion. Thank you, Garden Bar, for an...
