Not the worst garlic chips I've had, but pretty close. They were certainly good enough for the dogs though, who happily gobbled them up. At least they weren't pale and undercooked, but bland and tasteless even with garlic smothering them. Perhaps the newspaper wrapping hadn't been poked to let them breath and stop them from becoming sodden. The two hoki (the only choice for fish) I ordered were OK.
If this is what others get and they think it's worth 5 stars, they need to do some travelling. If it's not, then I must have got leftovers thrown together. Either way, I wish I'd gone somewhere...
Read moreA simple "Fish and Chip" shop that has quite tasty food and seems popular with the locals. The owner also runs the NZ Post shop, and is a pleasant, happy person to deal with. The other staff are very typical of small town NZ, also pleasant to deal with. Prices seem about on par with other local shops selling similar gate. There is a dining area that doesn't seem well used, at least during the 3 or 4 visits I've made there. The fish are very small pieces of fish, I would consider them to be nothing but a free sample and for $3.40 a piece I expected something of a reasonable size but they were thin and utterly disgusting, the chips were also overcooked and you definitely do not get value for money.
