This is so disappointing to say. We just moved into the area. And the couple of times we have been into this Cafe the food and drinks were lovely. Staff were great too. Untill today. Idk if the last behind the counter was just not in a good mood but... I asked for a Milkshake $5 and an Iced Chocolate $7. Which she asked if I wanted ice cream and whipped cream which I know already get offered. Said no to whipped cream and yes to ice cream. Total came to $12.50. I asked where the extra 50c came from she said from us getting ice cream. I asked for no ice cream as last time I didnt taste it. With an attitude she charged me the $12. And went off in a huff into the back saying I needed to take it up with the boss not her for the confusion. In no way was I going at her about it. I was confused because it wasnt written anywhere and I wasnt told it would cost me more. So she goes off in a huff and I get this weird feeling she isnt having a good day and that it's not my fault but just needed to go off at someone. But tbh I wasnt up happy to pay for the drinks nor her attitude. So I asked her if she had started making the drinks she came out all in a huff and tells me no she hasn't. So I ask for my money back as I'd like to take my business elsewhere. Then she goes on about respect and how I should respect her. I told her I wasnt happy to support the business if I was to get treated like this for no reason. Has really got to me she was shacking in anger and idk what I even did to upset her. But she upset me. I will no reccomend people to go here anymore. If your wanting a iced chocolate and a milkshake. Nextdoor at the Bracken Hall their iced chocolates are $6.50 including CHOCOLATE ice cream in a huge size. And milkshakes are $5.50 big sizing too. Lovely ladies all the time at Bracken Hall. Made me feel very welcome to the town. Now I am anxious to ever go into The Dome Cafe &...

Very very poor, incredibly rude staff. Every time I said I would like something on my list the lady would walk away instead of letting me speak. Interrupted me constantly, forgot my order and made me wait and try and make me pay for what I had thought I already payed for since I didn't realise she had completely ignored half my order. The food is freezing cold after asking to be heated, also incredibly expensive. 3 small drinks and 1 item of food is 35$. No apologies were given for forgetting my order or walking away multiple times. Would not recommend at all, will always be going to the other cafe from now on since I've never had any...

Beware the 9 o’clock opening on a Saturday and Sunday . Arrived here at 8:10 on a Saturday morning Hoping to buy some food for the cycle trip through to Walter Peak. The Food was in the cabinet ready for sale. I explained I needed the food for energy to get through. The woman was immovable and would not sell me anything even through the sliding glass window. even with me having cash. Her reason was if she opened up to me, everybody would be coming in. There was nobody in the car park let alone the town ship. Tour Aotearoa riders beware....

Nice little place but coffee didn't taste great. Thought it might be the milk that is off. Asked the staff about it but just said the milk is fresh...nothing else, no can we get you something else - seemed like an attitude of you bought it, tough. They weren't unfriendly at any point, just didn't care or thought they should. Nice enough place otherwise and looked like food and treats would be nice there. Just didn't try.

So so coffee. Service level need lots of improvement. Menu Board show long black coffee as $4.50 but been charged for $5. Mentioned to a black hair lady to update the menu board and she turn away, seem not care to apology and refund. Next door, Bracken Hall cafe is a better choice for visitors.

The kitchen was closed when we arrived, but there were still plenty of options in the cabinet - such as croissants, bacon & egg quiches, sandwiches etc. We had the quiche, some croissants, a hot chocolate, a milkshake & a bowl of hot chips. All were nice.
