Wharerata — Restaurant in Palmerston North

We recently had our wedding at Wharerata, and it truly exceeded all our expectations. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful, with perfectly manicured gardens and stunning views that created the ideal setting for our ceremony and reception. A special thank you to Caroline and Victoria, who played a huge role in making our day run so smoothly. From the very beginning, they were incredibly organised, responsive, and provided great advice during the planning process. On the big day, they were calm and efficient, making sure everything was in place and ran on time, so we didn’t have to worry about a thing. Their attention to detail was exceptional, and they made the entire experience stress-free for us. The grounds were immaculately presented, and the venue had such a lovely, welcoming atmosphere. It truly felt like a fairy tale. Even after the wedding, Caroline and Victoria made sure everything was packed up and taken care of, following up to ensure we were happy with how everything went. We couldn’t have asked for a better venue or a more professional, caring team. If you’re looking for a beautiful, well-organised venue with a team that truly cares about making your day special, Wharerata is the perfect choice.

Went to the Taco Night and it was a terrible disappointment for a place that I usually enjoy eating at. Everything was cold, including the beef and fish. The fish taco was fish sticks from the freezer, which seemed an odd choice. The vegetarian taco was drowning in chutney to the point I had to scrape some off so I could taste the falafel. And they decided to use processed cheese slices in the beef taco and since they were all cold, wasn't melted, just solid slices of cheese. Was a very strange and disappointing experience, especially since I brought my partner to the cafe for the first time for what I thought would be a nice night out. It felt like I had taken him to eat at McDonald's, if McDonald's decided to serve tacos at twice a McD's price tag. At least they would have been hot at McD's.

Hopefully it's just a one off, but I won't be going to another taco night at Wharerata. Would rather go to Libre and spend the same $/taco for...

Highly recommend Wharerata to anyone as a wedding venue. The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous, the homestead is beautiful and doesn't need anything extra to be a jaw-dropping place to get married.

I cannot rave enough about Frances and the staff. Frances had great communication from the beginning, and settled our nerves early on about a lot of things we were worried about. We knew early on that she would have things covered!

From planning, and setting up absolutely everything, coordinating the staff and all the food, to packing everything up and sorting the clearing, it was great.
