Overall experience was dissapointing, and totally overrated. Dont believe google star ratings with this one...How this place has such a high star rating I will never understand. Service is crap, and the cooked food was edible but not enjoyable.

Arrived (guided by google) and there were only 4 other cars in the parking lot.

No one was queued at the counter so we approached only to stand there waiting to be noticed by the waitress who was engaged in a conversation with their barrista.

When she finally acknowledged us we informed her that we were in for breakfast and she replied with "what do you want?" (to eat).. we didn't even know what was on the menu yet and had to find the menu ourselves. We said that we would look at the menu, but in the meantime we would order coffee. She took our coffee order and gave us a table number. We seated ourselves and waited for our coffees to arrive. What would be the 'normal level of hospitality'  (take the food order when you deliver the coffee) instead we waited.... and waited.... we finally realised that it was up to us to go and find our coffee and order breakfast. Waited in line to be served only to see our coffees sitting on the counter getting cold to the point where a skin had started to form on the flat white! After confirming that the hollandaise sauce wasnt made fresh, but came in a packet i ordered the French Toast and PPC breakfast. This took more time than it should because the waitress couldn't get the till to work, but when she did and I paid for everything she promptly handed me our coffees. By the time I got them to the table my caramel latte looked like a cappuccino in a glass, with only a hint of the $1.00 caramel shot I paid extra for, and was luke warm. The flat white had a skin on the top of it and was also luke warm. Then we waited another half hour for our food to arrive... not impressed at all. (See photos) Everything was dry apart from the tomato relish on the PPC breakfast, and soggy (apart from the hard bacon 'chips') on the French toast breakfasts. The only thing that I can speak good about was the atmosphere and location. As for the overall  experience it was dissapointing, overrated and we only ate almost everything because it...

I won't be returning to The Parsley Pot cafe, not after my recent lunch experience. I visited with a friend. We placed our orders at the counter, made payment and found ourselves a table outdoors. With four service people on and only 3 other smaller groups at tables it wasn't busy. Our coffee and pot of tea were somewhat slow to arrive. I went inside and requested a small jug of hot water which was forthcoming, and added it to the coffee drink as it was somewhat cold, rather than requesting a new coffee. Around 15 mins later my friend's cabinet Eccles cake arrived to the table. Meanwhile I patiently waited 40 mins for my soup order to be served. When I sampled the soup I found it had lost it's heat. So I took the bowl inside to the waitress at the counter and politely asked for it to be heated up. The owner who was also the chef in the kitchen came out and made me feel really uncomfortable (-fumbling in a utensil beaker for a thermometer and claiming it was 75°C - which was clearly untrue as at this temperature it would have burnt my lips upon tasting, and would not have required any warming up). He decided to take the bowl back into the kitchen. I lost my desire for the soup after this unusual response and customer engagement...so I simply left, and walked away with my friend! In hospitality if you don't love interacting with people and giving customers a positive experience enjoying their food and drink, then it...

We visited the Parsley Pot again today for lunch, and I ordered the lambs fry, and bacon with mushrooms, as I have had this previously and it was just like last time, perfect.

My wife didn't want too big a lunch, so she only ordered a poached egg, 2 slices of bacon, with a side of mushrooms, delicious.

Upon speaking with the owner regarding an earlier review of mine, he pointed out that my review was incorrect, because I stated the beef pie should have had pieces of steak.

They also say that it was advised as being pulled beef?

The owner was correct in respect to my mention of steak, for which I apologise, therefore I have now reviewed my earlier review and corrected it as below, and reinstated the 4 star rating.

I have rated the Parsley Pot earlier, and the rating given then was in the 4 to 5 stars, however my latest rating has dropped to 3 stars, based on the food served to me.

I ordered a "Beef and Guinness" pie, when it arrived and opened it, it was dry with little to no gravy, and the texture was that of mince.

I spoke with the owner and he advised me that the beef and Guinness pie was made from minced beef.

If that is the case then advertise it as such.

One expects a beef pie to have decernable pieces of actual meat.

We have had many meals here before, and the meals have been excellent, especially their lambs fry and bacon.

However this time it was very...

Fortunately, Warkworth was a wonderful break from the tourist hassles in Auckland and other parts of the popular North Island. There were not many options in the immediate vicinity of our villa for good dining options, but for breakfast, a local's recommendation was The Parsley Pot Cafe...really??? The cafe was basically a remodeled shed - unpretentious but with marvelous food. Luckily, we had arrived at 11am before the Sunday crowd. Don't dilly-dally with your selection and order because the place will fill up in the blink of an eye. A large party with reserved table celebrating a newborn had 10:30am reservations but finally arrived around 11:15am. They did have their table saved, but after standing around admiring the newborn and passing the chit-chat, they finally went inside to place their orders and were told the wait to be served would be about an hour! Hated to smile, but our pre-ordered coffees and pastries, together with my mushroom, ham and cheese omelette, were simply scrumptious. The Parsley Pot Cafe closes their kitchen early, but you can stay until 3pm. Suggestion -- Buy one of their pre-made goodies from the display case if there is a long wait and if there is anything still available.
