If God was to drink coffee this is where he would go.

As a local, it is awesome to see two cool young owners running this wee gem of a spot like a well fine oiled machine. The penisula is blessed to have two cool young cats running the business and I love there vibe and ambiance they bring as the peninsula is 90% old people. If I was in the Dunedin city, and walked in to a cafe the staff would think I'm to un cool for them and they would not want to talk to me while I drink my coffee and contemplate my life decision. I can guarantee as soon as you head to the Cove Cafe, the staff will treat you like a guest in your own home. Not to mention the food, good feed and awesome bang for your buck. If this was the last place I could ever eat it would be here, big shout out to...

The Cove Cafe is one of those places that makes you want to linger a little longer. We stopped in for lunch and had their pulled burgers absolutely packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. Every bite hit the spot.

Add to that the stunning ocean views, and it’s hard not to fall a little in love with the place. The staff were warm and welcoming, creating the kind of casual, friendly vibe that makes you instantly feel at ease.

Whether you're after a relaxed lunch, a great coffee stop, or just a scenic spot to soak in Portobello's charm this cafe delivers on all fronts.

Liked the uncluttered layout with well-spaced tables inside and several outside tables. All food labelled with price and description. Prompt friendly service. Tea made with tea leaves in an infuser, and the staff happily provided a pot of hot water when requested. Our pies were delicious - tender flaky pastry, good-quality meat and flavoursome gravy. S'more slice delicious, although a bit difficult to eat politely! A perfect cafe stop on your harbourside bike ride. We will definitely stop here again...I want to try those...

I have wanted to try this cafe since it reopened and I was not disappointed. The food was fresh and cooked to order. Whilst the menu is small it offers a decent variety of options. I had the Rosti and the potatoes were seasoned perfectly and it was not dripping with grease like other places. The staff are lovely and you can’t beat the view on a good day. I will definitely be returning next time I’m in Dunedin.

Loved everything about this place! We came back multiple times. Excellent coffee, delicious breakfast including good vegetarian options, and the date scone was to die for! We didn’t try them but the sandwiches looked really really good as well. Our 2-year old loved the little play nook, the people were exceptionally friendly and the views amazing. Plenty of parking nearby so really no reason not to go!

I reckon this establishment is a great little kiwi gem. Unpretentious with a nice atmosphere, the coffee was good and the ginger crunch and toasted date cinnamon scone were delicious! The cafe is perfectly situated looking onto and across the harbour. There are plenty of seating options, both inside and outside, and the service was excellent.
