Hello Ranger — Restaurant in South Island

I visited this nicely set-up restaurant with a great atmosphere. I definitely love the place when I got in. I ordered two takeaway coffees for $15: one oat milk mocha and one oat milk flat white. I didn't specify the size of the coffees when I ordered, so I was a bit confused when I received them. The two cups seemed quite small, as you can see in the photo. I noticed another coffee (large flat white) in a big glass next to my two takeaway cups. The size seems OK. When I checked with the staff, they informed me that both large and regular sizes are priced the same. If a customer doesn't specify a size, they always serve the regular one.

Unfortunately the food was really disappointing, we had beef burgers, fish and chips at $82 for the 3 meals. The fish was dry, chewy and lacked flavour. The burger patties really watery, no seasoning plain and ordinary. The burgers don’t come with chips either, they charge an extra $5 for less than a handful of McCain frozen chips. It’s all over the bar service which is fine and I have no issues with but the quality of food so below par. On a positive note the atmosphere was great with a live musician and great outdoor area which is great for the kids and dog friendly too. I like the ambience of this place the and the outside area is lovely, but have had a number of underwhelming experiences. Have turned up several times to be told the kitchen had run out of steak (not during peak season) or been served with something that was certainly not bernaise sauce as advertised, had to remind them to make my coffee after 20 minutes waiting or being served my meal only for the staff to realise they'd made my partner's vegan pizza with normal cheese so he had to wait for another 15 minutes watching me eat waiting for his meal.
