September 2024 update Came here again for drinks and had a nicer experience, the lady bartender was lovely, the fireplace was going and the pub has some cool historic memorabilia on its walls. Good place for post work beers and bar food nibbles like fries/ onion rings.

June 2024 Came here to check it out cos it looks like a cute old historic pub. Strange vibes when we walked in though, we didn't feel welcome, seems like they don't really care for newcomers or something. Staff seemed bothered by our presence. We ordered dinner and drinks and the frozen processed food (chicken schnitzel and burger) that we were served was not at all worth the price. The Filipino lady was nice (I think she was Filipino from her accent), but the other guy was stand offish. Anyway, reading some of the other reviews it looks like we aren't the only ones who think they have some not so friendly staff.

We were actually recommended to visit by someone we met during our month in Queenstown, he said he was friends with the guy who runs it and to say hi from...

We’ve only ever given out 5 out of 5 stars in years of meal reviews. We are very easy to please, and very happy to ˋforgive and forget´ honest mistakes, and problems. But not for this dive. Luggate Hotel is bad to the bone, in every single area. From the unwelcome stares from the owner and his local cronies (with every second word being ˋfuckeń) when you first walk in, to the overcooked chips in stale oil, overpriced $26 x 2 snapper meals that turned out to be dry generic packaged frozen fish, to my $16 short–filled ˋpint´ of beer, this place has AVOID AT ALL COSTS lit up like a huge neon sign over it. Honestly, anywhere else would be better, and this is no joke. A real shame because it looks authentic and nice, and has potential with someone who cared. But don’t be fooled — it was the worst sit–down meal we’ve ever ordered. It was a relief to slink out, and go back to our hotel… ...

We came to the restaurant more than 4 times to order food and drinks, so spend more than 800$ there. The waitress was always disrespectful and rude.... the last time we came, we ordered 4 sodawaters and and didn't yet order food so we sat there for an hour maybe till the rude waitress came and literally told us to leave the restaurant if we don't order anything. I never experienced a waitress this rude. She also only brings the food to the table and if we ask if we can please get forks and knives, her answer is: go get it yourself, it's inside. This restaurant/hotel has a great potential but the woman behind the bar is rude to tourists/strangers. Absolutely don't recommend this place. Ps: we went there 4 times because4it was the only restaurant we...

Good menu to select from and well cooked/presented. Can easily vouch for the Whitebait Fritter special - they don't skimp on the Whitebait quantity. Historical atmosphere both inside and outside - similar to the Cardrona Hotel. Menu pricing in the middle-upper range, but still good value. Will be back again.

Had some food. It took a while to come but it was busy and it was a nice relaxing place to sit and drink. Was interesting to see the bar that had been to London and back, found it odd no mention of it really. Some good memorabilia on display. Pool table for $2 a game.
