Well I've got say was really impressed great tasting fish and chips, the lemon 🍋 on the side was perfect addition gave the fish a nice tang to the batter, batter was nice and crispy a tad to oily on finished meal

They have gluten free batter- options Tasty food fresh fish large portions, the chip scoops size is on the smaller side but tasty food. Definitely recommended

Took me a while to finally visit. Was not disappointed. Tony’s pasties are amazing. Loads of other options including Thai, curries, burgers etc. A must visit.

Edit: The owner replied very quickly and on thinking about it, it was really good. A few more chips, slightly bigger spring rolls and fish and it would have been 5 stars so maybe something to work on.

Fantastic quality, small portions for the price. We spent $21 on a scoop, one fish, a spring roll and tartare sauce as a small meal for two people.

I'm not kidding that we went to Motueka afterwards, still being hungry, and received a larger and more filling portion from another shop for $5. $5! Yes this was just chips and onion rings, but still! More bang for your buck to go elsewhere IMO, unless they maybe were having a bad day?

The chips were amazing, but the portion was about one paper pottle's worth for $4.50. Some of the best chips I've had, but one scoop should be enough for two people for a small feed. The fish was also amazing, but the fillet was the size of of a frankfurter, not quite what I expected for $6.80. It was half a fillet when I would expect a whole one for the price. The spring roll was, likewise, very good indeed, but for $5.50 you would expect one larger than a cocktail spring roll... It was about the size of my thumb and I don't have big thumbs.

If you are of a much higher demographic than me, you're not that hungry and you don't mind spending $40 for a takeaway dinner for two people then it might be alright for you, but I was disappointed overall. I will try again on a quieter night and might get a few more...

3☆ "It's ok" using google's rating system. The chips are fairly priced and portioned, and seasoned with what appears to be a quality salt, not like most places. However they came over saturated with oil and are noticeably of cheap quality, the kind you buy at a sports game that are bright yellow and machine mashed, a better quality frozen chip, such as McCains straight cut would be a step up. Definitely not "the best chips in NZ" as other reviews say. The burgers were the saving grace, gormet ingredients and tasty patties in a filling portion, "The Italian Job" was the best. Be prepared once again for over saturation; too much sauce, oil, and juices from the salad make it hard to eat without falling apart. Boxes for the burgers would probably be a worthwile investment, nicer presentation and the burger wont be churned about inside the current paper wraping. Otherwise the service was good, and I hope this fairly critical review highlights some areas of improvement, other reviews seem to regard this shop highly so don't be put off giving Ruby Bay...

I recently ended my employment here after working part time for 1.5 years and I can faithfully tell anyone that it is the best takeaway restaurant you'll ever come across. If you are a local or just passing through the region stopping here to get some food is a must! The chips are by far the best you'll ever have, crispy, flavorful and always cooked to perfection. The fish is always fresh, cooked great with crispy batter and plenty of flavor. All the burgers are made with tasty buns, generous amounts of sauce and meat, and fresh lettuce and slaw. The asian food is delicious, made by a chef with years of training in the field where he has clearly picked up on all the tricks to make a great authentic curry. I can't say enough good things about this place. Thank you Chef for keeping the people of the Nelson/Tasman region happy and fed for the last few years and many...
