The Farmhouse — Restaurant in South Island

Oh my, your response is unjustified. I was the sober driver for the whole weekend. Not one glass was broken. In fact we all left in a polite and sober manner. I also was the last to leave the table to make sure there was no property left behind. Absolutely no broken glasses!! Yes a few of us let your staff know we were disappointed, but in no way a threatening manner. We were all dissappointed in the way we were treated. As for mentioning the owners, we are not locals to the area so your manager was exaggerating about that. Reviews are given to let future customers know what our experience was. Own it and improve on your service

Lovely setting but that's it. A big group of 18 people where booked in for dinner. Upon arriving we were told there was no reservation for us, waitress was looking at the wrong page and took a person from our group to point out that mistake. We were placed outside which was beautiful....but the customer service from the 4 staff serving us was absolutely appalling, we were made to feel unwelcome. Bringing out still wine instead of sparking wine, and basically accusing our table of ordering the still. Pizzas are either bought in or frozen as there was only 1 Margareta pizza available...simplest of pizzas to make. Limited amount of the pork also. This was a special occasion and the whole experience was just hard and we felt unwelcomed. At least 5 of us complained as we were paying and they did not care. Some of our dishes were lovely but unfortunately the service just put a huge downer on...

They offer breakfast, lunch and bar food. Food is good, I went here for breakfast. I had their big breakfast which was very filling. The way they cook their poached egg is to die for. One of the best poached egg I had in my life. Everything on the plate was good, however I wasn’t a fan of the rosti. It was too hard to slice it properly. My partner enjoyed their chicken waffle. I also ordered an iced matcha latte which was a 6/10 for a matcha. It didn’t taste like the authentic ones.

They offer indoor and outdoor dining. Unfortunately it was raining when we went, but you’ll get a good view of the mountain when seated outside. The place looks clean and the ambiance is inviting. You can also bring your dogs and kids get to enjoy little activities here and there.

There’s parking in the cafe but very limited. There’s off street parking too but what are the chances. The road gets busy in the morning.

Website said restaurant kitchen closes at 9pm, however arrived 30mins prior and no food was being served. Called prior to coming to restaurant to confirm time of kitchen close and did not answer phone. Website needs to be updated to match time of kitchen close.

Response: I’m within my right to give a 1 star review as this is MY experience of your restaurant. I initially suggested to update your website as I was disappointed that two nights in a row I attempted to dine here and both times were turned away due to kitchen closing earlier than stated, even when I showed up to the restaurant at 8.35pm, only to be told that it closes at 8.30pm - I’m not sure how this correlates to you saying that the restaurant is “within their right to close 20mins prior”. I would say I have a fair review and to be met with hostility by your comment allows me to believe that I am glad that I didn’t dine here if this is how you choose to treat...
