What a fabulous place this is, ideal for children as well as people of all other ages! There's a camp site and cabins to stay in or you can just visit the restaurant, as we did. There's ride on toys in the safe garden, cows to watch as they pad by on their way for milking, adult swings and even a few zip wires in the adjoining field to help your first course go down before tackling your second! I'm no camper but I'd stay here as the restaurant serves 3 meals daily and the evening menu is varied from fabulous Dutch pancakes( the owners are Dutch) through great steaks , homemade burgers of all kinds plus homemade relishes...the only thing they don't make themselves is tomato sauce! All this and fabulous views of Mount Taranaki...straight ahead! There's a bus that leaves here to take visitors on up to the visitors centre where car parking can be difficult. If you're in the area then you really...

Had the fish burger and also finished my kids pancakes at the owners insistence. Everything tasted like old oil. The old oil smell was everywhere and I had to leave as it made me feel slightly ill. Service was awkward. View was nice , as were the kids carts. Maybe they had a bad day but I can't justify going there again.

I am also stunned by the owners response to the other negative comment on this thread. I am very experienced in hospitality from cafes to fine dining and I see this as a massively unprofessional and...

Homely ambiance in a family-friendly converted barn decorated with Dutch art and vintage timber furniture. Hearty homestyle food in generous portions. I tried the Prutje pancake in the gluten-free option and had to take half home for dinner. The staff were friendly and attentive, although granted I was the only diner at the time.

Food snobs probably wouldn't enjoy this place, but if - like me - you are charmed by roosters named Grandfather, handmade country style food and charming surroundings, this place is...

Nice and close to Mt Taranaki with beautiful views of the mountain and a cool playground for adults and kids. The staff were friendly and made us a nice pancake with apple and raisin. There is a campground and cabins attached to the business. We camped at the place and found the tent site was good and had space for both car and tent. However there was only two toilets and one shower for all campers which can make difficulties when the place is busy. Overall a good place with a really positive atmosphere.

Super cool place we discovered on the way up to Mount Taranaki. We got there on Pancake Tuesday's, where they serve traditional Dutch pancakes with a bunch of options for toppings. The pancakes are pretty large but you can definitely down a few of them if you are hungry! The view is amazing! On a clear day you'll be able to see Mount Taranaki in full view, but sadly it was a bit cloudy today when we visited. We came on a weekday morning, so it wasn't too crowded which was perfect for us.
