This is a nice, quaint place to chill with a friend and/or family.

The staff were friendly, nice as well as patient (we had difficulty deciding what ice cream flavour to order).

The interior was cute, quite rustic with the wooden fixtures and furniture. There was a garden outside which we didn't get to see in detail as it was raining, but the atmosphere was great.

There was also a small store which selled local produce and other small products. Looked really nice and interesting.

The ice cream flavours we got: blueberry, ginger nut, apple cinnamon yogurt, white chocolate and raspberry, salted caramel. My personal favourite was probably the ginger nut, it was different with a tiny bit of spice. The blueberry was great, too, not overly sweet which allows the berry flavour to shine. Those were the highlights, that being said, each flavour was awesome and we all loved what we got.

Their cabinet food also looked incredible . The sizes were giant compared to other cafes I've been to. We had the last slice of ferrero rocher cake and it was enough for three people. The cake was a bit hard as it seemed to have been in the cabinet chilling for a while, and was slightly dry. The flavour was nice though and the ferroro rocher chocolate itself was still fresh as the wafer inside has not gone stale. We also tried the juice, which had pineapple, orange and apple. Nothing too special, but it was refreshing and didn't taste like it was sweetened, so basically what you'd expect from real fruit juice.

We enjoyed Toad Hall, hopefully we get to go back again to try out more ice cream flavours and their other...

Had never eaten here before, but a regular stopoff for fresh fruit ice-creams which are LEGEND by the way. We all enjoyed our meals which included 2 kids burgers which were an elevated burger for sure - not a patty on a supermarket bun but real meats on beauty bread buns, kids very happy. My mushroom soup was soooo rich and thick, really decadent! We shared some tasty garlic bread which was a hit all round. My absolutely massive juice drink orange pineapple and ginger (or something) really matched its price point for size, and totally rocked for flavour. Our side of chips, which we ordered to protect the kids from being taxed of theirs by grownups was agreed by all adults to be overcooked but we were so stoked with all the rest of our meals we insisted on not having them taken off the bill. 3 other adult meals were all equally delightful to the assigned consumer. Indoor space was warm and cozy - but lots of hard surfaces so a bit noisier than normal - someone who is a bit sensitive would be better off in their covered and sealed garden area which is a neat space to eat in too. If the carpark looks full from the street it probably is, but there is plenty of space accross the road up and down the street. The kids loved the lush...

Great looking place and it looked as though it would be so promising.

Sadly on that day I had a not so good experience. 2 rude/ didn't want to be there/ eye rolling young servers that day. ( and 1 thoroughly delightful server). Got sick from the vego dish a little while after, something very wrong with the beans ( sharply bitter not like a spice taste so I left them all to the side even tho it infiltrated the meal) and when 2 of the staff there asked me, I told them. However I was 1. not quite believed and 2. of them turned very cold and dismissive and questioned rather a lot ( too much, come on it tasted bad)when I mentioned it, even though they asked how my meal was.

Also the beetroot, carrot, apple celery ++ juice looked pretty much like pink, juice flavoured water? Unless I'm missing a new way to make cold pressed juices?? They tasted kinda ok but the substance and the texture was like cordial. Weird for raw pressed juice.

My partner had a standard bacon and eggs and he said it was fine. They didn't offer me any discount on my meal in case you were wondering

Maybe a bad day for them?

Shame, such a cool...

The name may not be inspiring but what is within Toad Hall was freshly made food and their own brewery offering refreshing suds. If you are making the drive from Nelson to Kaiteriteri or beyond, I would recommend stopping by this place for lunch or a bite. The patio seating outside is a mix of covered and uncovered areas. It’s very charming and relaxing atmosphere. There’s a friendly dog that roams the grounds to make sure everyone is having a great time. We got their self-proclaimed “world-famous in Mouteka” seafood chowder and the peperonata pasta to share. The seafood chowder did not disappoint as there was huge chunks of seafood swimming in the cream sauce. It was very good and lived up to the billing. The peperonata pasta was a really pleasant surprise with a very deep and rich tomato sauce that has been slowly simmered. It was very hearty but not heavy. There was a little bit of chatter in the air from locals and other tourists alike just taking in the afternoon. Overall, this was a lovely place to have lunch!

Goodness me! If only words could describe that taste. Oh wait, they can! The smell, the richness, that melty goodness of the best café espresso I've ever had over a scoop of creamy OOB organic vanilla ice cream. Gosh that barista knew what she was doing when she decided to become a barista. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his mocha too. They had fresh fruit to buy, so we got a nectarine, which was pretty darned good, and I tried some of their vegan milk cashew chocolate. The staff were friendly, and went out of their way to help us out with out two small children. My 3 year old also got to have a play on their playground, with a little kids' table and chairs in a hut up a ramp, a slide, and a sandpit. My only regret here is that I didn't go there hungry enough to order lunch, as all the food going out around us looked incredible. I'd definitely return there, even if only for an espresso.
