It was a hot day when I went to this eatery. There were only a couple of other diners, but it felt crowded with the amount of empty tables and chairs cramed in. You also couldn't hear yourself speak because of the number of fans blowing warm air. There is no air conditioning in this restaurant. Of course, this forced us to move outside to the uneven patio and rickety tables that were shade by small umbrellas. This place has a major fly infestation. So there must be some rotting food nearby. I had scallops, and my partner had chicken skewers. Both presented nicely. The scallops should have been trimmed. They were served on a bed of mashed potatoes, which were a bit over salted but nice anyway. The beer was cold, and the coffee was excellent. On Sunday I went to Puriri Cafe and asked for a takeaway focaccia chicken roll, which cost $12.50, that was a bit mind blowing for me. Three times they asked if I wanted it heated. Each time I said "no thanks". When I finally got it after about 10 minutes. It was heated. When I said I didn't want it heated, the girl at the till said well it's been heated now, so that's it. A man came along and ask if he could help, the situation was again explained and he kindly got a new roll from the cabinet. When I came to eat it 2 hours later, you could tell it had been refrigerated and it was stale as.
