Columbus Coffee at Mitre 10 MEGA Te Awamutu — Restaurant in Waikato

My wife and I went for lunch today, Waitangi day. Probably around 12.30. We were warned of a 15 to 20 minute wait despite the place only being half full. That was not a problem. When the coffee finally arrived it was in the standard takeaway plastic/paper cop's with drinking lids. No explanation/apology and no spoon to stir in sugar! The food followed shortly after. Both meals were from the cabinet. My wife had Cheese and Onion toasted sandwiches. They had lost the appeal they had in the cabinet. Very flat, dry, hardly any visible cheese and pretty raw chunks of onion. I had a Tortilla. Pretty much cold. Very unappealing. All the vegetable prices were so big they had to be cut up just to get in my mouth. We have frequently gone to this Cafe over the years and nearly always enjoyed the food and the service. Just went for lunch today. Was very disappointed, my lunch came from the cabinet. Rosti with bacon and egg. Totally inedible. Over cooked, tough and tasteless. It was obvious that they don't have enough experienced staff, manager seemed very flustered. She did address my lunch and offered another option, which was there pork and fennel sausage roll. Which was delicous. The rest of our table had very average meals off the menue. If you have inexperienced staff then that falls on the management to find away to train and pick the team correctly. Very sad to see because i've had great food there previously. And waiting 45 minutes for lunch is too long. I've been a chef in cafes on and off for many years. So i am well aware of the problems. Just went for lunch, firstly our cutlery was thrown at us and fell over, young server just walked away. Then, same server delivered our food for two of us and put it down on the table beside us and walked away nothing spoken we had to get it ourselves! My son had the burger which he said was ok quite average. My Eggs bene with mushrooms and hash was bad 3/10. Eggs hard, I mean hard, not any softness, hash was crunchy and when pressed oil oozed out Gross. I did eat the mushrooms, they were ok. What a...
