Tongariro Lodge Restaurant — Restaurant in Waikato

We had breakfast and dinner here twice as it was convenient while staying at the lodge. The menu is decent with options for everyone.

The steak was lovely and flavourful. The salmon was tasty (though a small portion). The broccolini in the cucumber salad was the star of the show for me! Would not recommend the Japanese style fried chicken as it wasn’t really seasoned and the meat was chewy/unappealing. The breakfasts are very good to start your day!

The staff are very attentive and friendly and service is relatively quick.

There aren’t many restaurants in the area, so this is a welcomed option but some of the dishes...

Exquisite food and wine. We were staying in the area and visited the restaurant for dinner. Wonderful evening with one unfortunate slight negative, when a young male waiter asked if wanted the bill, when we had only just finished our meal! He did not make us feel welcome to stay a little longer to enjoy the ambience of our superb meal and evening. It was only 8.30pm! Ate at the Tongariro Lodge restaurant three nights in a row last week while we were staying in a villa, and it was absolutely fabulous every time. The venison short ribs, salmon, and rib eye steak were standouts for me, my husband raved about the lamb and sliders. Great wine, beautiful setting, and a warm, relaxed atmosphere.
