Trying to find somewhere for a birthday brunch/ lunch on a Monday is near impossible. Trying to cater for six which includes a semi veggie that loves spice, an older fussy eater and someone with multiple food allergies makes it even harder. The Olive Kitchen and Bar was most welcoming with an extensive menu to suit all. Booking online was easy, finding the location was easy. The views are AMAZING. The staff were extremely friendly, the service was excellent and very prompt. A nice environment, we sat inside and were able to talk and enjoy our food. The food?? The food was exceptional, seafood platter, beautiful steaks cooked perfectly, great pizza and huge delicious burgers.Yummy cocktails, a good selection of beers and great coffee. The only disappointment was we were too full to try a sweet treat. Maybe next time. Definitely will be back and highly recommend this West Auckland gem nestled into the bush of Scenic Drive.

Where to start... okay, the service. The staff are beyond amazing - even though it's a Monday evening and our party of 6 and another couple were the only ones, we were well looked after. We had a birthday dinner in the Dome ($60 hire fee). The weather is wet, cold and miserable but you wouldn't know while dinning within the Dome. There were blankets and a heater. And your own little bluetooth speaker for music. The ambience was marvelous. The food was on another level - not only exceptional but with the current climate - great value for money. For entrée we had the seafood platter for 2, Sigara borek, bread n dips, steamed muscle pot. For mains we had scotch fillet, lamb cutlets and lamb shank. The mains were about $32ea and entrees averaged $15ea. An absolutely lovely location. This has now become a new favorite spot of ours. We plan to be regulars.

I organised the catering for our wedding through this place - wow what a mistake. Firstly the communication, trying to reach them through phone or email proved very difficult, and as you can imagine, trying to organise a wedding when you can't even communicate with the cater is extremely frustrating. Unfortunately there was no backing out at this stage as we'd already paid a deposit, mistakingly, as the owner tried to tell us he was getting booked up fast, though there was no proof of this. We're not even sure if they have ever successfully catered for 100 people at a wedding before (I've since read other peoples reviews). To cut to the chase everything was so disorganised, the owner hadn't even successfully managed to get matching table clothes 30 mins before the ceremony started (some yellow and too small for the table) causing a lot of stress as these were supposed to be provided the day prior. Numerous mistakes were made, the food was not as previously tasted, swapping beautiful feta for cheap bulk bought feta, roasted beetroot turned into canned, but to top it off on the day, the food mostly came out cold... The usually yummy crunchy potatoes cold and soggy - and even worse the caterer forgot the vegetarian and vegan meals. Eleven people were without meals! This to me was totally unacceptable and basically I just want to warn anyone thinking about getting their catering for their wedding done here - think again!! You do not want to go through the stress we...

Has potential but there are some things that don’t quite make it amazing.

My partner and I got a gift voucher from his dad as a christmas present from grab one, which was incredible value for the food. 3 course meal with a wine glass for $37.5 each (you do have a limited menu which I found weird, but it is what it is. As for the food, it was good, nothing amazing but perfectly nice for the place.

We were received amazingly and had a beautiful view.

The waitress was a bit too forward from the beginning and we tried to ignore the fact, however, she asked whether we were “A gay couple” and she said “that’s so cute” and Me and my partner felt really uncomfortable as there were other couples and she didn’t say anything about them being cute. I didn’t let that get in the way of our nice dinner. In the end they took our voucher and we left with a full tummy.

Not going to lie, this place has potential, but I will definitely not be back, it wasn’t inviting whatsoever and I can get a meal like that and a view like that...

I had a wonderful experience here. The staff were friendly and connected, not only with their customers but with each other and it showed. I ordered the grilled (fresh) fish and it was delicious. The table next to me ordered the lamb rack and burgers and i had food envy. Most importantly though, i was here with my 2 year old son and the table staff spoke to him so kindly. No one made me feel like he was a nuisance or expected him to just sit still and behave. This made my experience so much better because i could enjoy my glass of wine and feel content. The pivotal moment of our visit was when i informed the waitress that he had dropped his toy car out the window onto the roof. She simply smiled and said, "that's ok. I'll get it for him" and proceeded to climb out the window, onto the roof to save the monster truck. Thank you Olive Kitchen for a lovely meal and making us feel welcome and valued. You clearly have a great team culture becauase it shows through your staff. Will...
