Groundup Cafe — Restaurant in Wellington

Stopped in for a bit of breakfast on a rainy morning.

Well laid out space, good looking cabinet food, drinks, and a main menu of standard diner options.

Mate got the big breakfast, and I went for the eggs Benedict because I’m a pretentious git who wants baked beans with his full English so as they didn’t do beans, didn’t order it.

Meals were cooked well, good portion sizes.

They didn’t have HP Sauce, so bring your own if you need it.

Water was from a cooler with plastic cups, was a bit odd. Not sure if I’ve been spoilt with the bottles of water and glasses offered at pretty much every other place but they had water and it was water so 🤷🏽‍♂️

If you wanted more water than a small plastic cup’s worth, you had to wander over to the cooler again. Felt too self conscious to have a second cup.

There are ducks roaming around, which is a thing that happens.

Staff are nice and friendly, service is quick, food is good, worth a stop in for coffee too I’m told by my coffee drinking...

With a wide range of food, both cabinet and hot food it is a great place a tasty lunch with something to suit everyone. Groundup is always busy and due to no table service there are always lines and lots of people up by the counter. On weekends and public holidays it can be a bit of a struggle to find a table and a wee wait may be required. Food is priced quite highly, but judging by how crowded it always is, people are willing to pay the premium price for what they get. Staff aren't the friendliest as they are always busy (looks like Cafe is possibly understaffed) and have on occasion heard them be quite rude to customers though this doesn't seem to have affected their business. I presume due to the density of the surrounding suburb and lack of options closeby this place will always be busy until other competition arrives. Would suggest parking in the area behind the Cafe as the car park in front is...

They have a wide variety of delicious looking cabinet food. Quite hard to choose as they all look good. They also have menus to choose from. I ordered a filo filled with chicken, camembert and cranberry from the cabinet with a side salad which was delicious and they presented it very nicely. I also had a very good looking fruit tart as a dessert with a Latte. Absolutely delicious! My friends ordered a Veggie breakfast, Salmon scrambled eggs and Creamy garlic mushrooms. Their toasts came separately. The food all looked really good and they all enjoyed their food. By the time when we went to order for another drink at the cashier about 12:30pm (on Saturday), there was a massive queue.
