The owner and staff at the campsite and the adjacent café are really nice and you can choose freely where you want to park on the campground. However when it rains most of the area is not recommended for campers since you might face difficulties leaving the place in the morning. ||The facilities are very basic. You have a small cooking area outside and the showers and toilets of the campground are in a little shed, pretty old and some of them not working properly. ||Considering the price it is a good place to stay on your way to or from the West Coast, especially since the staff gives good advice for fighting the sandflies, places to visit and where to get gas before heading down...

Read moreAfter a few rough nights on the road driving through rainstorms and struggling through rough accommodation, my travel companion and I stopped at Berlin’s and were ecstatic to find affordable food and drink, clean beds, and delightful hosts! It was so good that a simple one night stop turned into a delightful 3 night stay! We were incredibly lucky to have stopped here when we did, as the buller river flooded and kept us from continuing north, but it was a blessing to have the kindness and knowledge of the owner Dean and a nice warm fire to dry all of our things! Of all the places I’ve visited and stayed in my travels of NZ, berlins is my favorite, and I can’t recommend...
