What a lovely Store & Cafe. Called in for some kai and drink after riding from Greymouth to Kumara along the West Coast Wilderness Trail. Store had everything you needed. Staff were welcoming and service was excellent. Could have eaten a lot more and had a kāwhe but with a ride ahead of more I managed to hold back but oh, did that kai look and smell delicious. Popped across the road to the Memorial Hall and paid my respects to the locals who lost their life's in wars, protecting our freedom and liberty.

Great little country general store with a little cafe as part of it as well. We stopped to grab a coffee while passing through. It was worth a stop in this picturesque little town to check out the well signed history and take in the wonderful old structures. The coffee was good and the home made donut was real nice. Friendly guy on the counter topped off our short visit nicely.

Great place to stop by and grab some donuts and coffee. I loved the owner's hospitality, his smile and kind words. He gave us a brochere for near towns and it was amazing around kumara! I'll be back for sure. And the donuts were so amazing too

DO NOT GO HERE, AWFUL OWNERS… I WILL WARN EVERYONE NOW!!!

I bought 3 doughnuts (truly wonderful) and large cappuccino. On our way back to our friend with emergency petrol, the bottom fell out of the paper cup and it went all over me. I was pretty soaked. We had to go back that way anyway so I said we should stop and ask for a new one.

When we got there the guy told me he didn’t believe me, in spite of me bringing the faulty cup. He also said it was too long ago (took 30 minutes each way plus time to give our friend petrol so was about an hour). I told him the reason for the time delay and that it also went all over me and he sighed and said he’d make a new one. So apart from being soaked by hot coffee i now also felt insulted. Oh yeah and he gave me a hot chocolate not a coffee.

EDIT: Having read that the other bad reviews are not taken always well, I would like to say that I did find the service wonderful the first time round so please take this as constructive criticism. The food and coffee was also incredibly good. It’s just when someone comes with a complaint they should be believed and apologised to immediately before your start questioning them. EDIT EDIT: What a small man you must be, I was being friendly when I came in because we had such a good first interaction. I cannot believe you think I would break a cup just to ask for a new one. I quite happily would pay for another coffee because they were very good. It was very hot and may have been a faulty cup, that happens. Not everyone that has criticism of your customer service is trying to destroy your business. If you can't take it then remove it off google maps so you don't have to read negative reviews, because you clearly cannot take them. Also I would have happily taken a sincere apology and no replacement coffee...I would even still pay that money for that extra replacement one if you were...

Stopped in for a bite and a drink. Ended up having a pie which was really nice after the kind man recommended it. The pie was also not served at the temperature of the sun so I was able to eat it without having to wait 30 minutes. Although I didn't need anything, I stopped by on the way back and bought a drink. I made friends with the rescue cat who was totally down for smooches and had a lovely conversation with the owner about life and things. I learned he was a kind man who loved animals, was highly intelligent (you can always tell this if a person is inquisitive) and what I call, a decent person. A decent person is one who doesn't judge people. If you don't need anything, stop in anyway, have a chat, try a pie or something else, you...

We came at lunchtime on a holiday weekend. The fryers weren't on and wouldn't be turned on. There were three under cooked pies in the pie warmer. It was bleak. So we ordered coffee. Big mistake. We went out to the car, trying to get the toddler back in her carseat when a staff member follows us out - asks my husband how the coffee is. Terrible he replies. She tries to take it from him and he pulls away. She offers us a refund but wants the coffee back. Husband says bad coffee is better than no coffee. Weird...
