Playa El Perú Kayak Kencho — Restaurant in Altagracia (Municipio)

The rating isn’t for the kayaking in the river but for the way it was managed.

Absolutely pathetic management and why you should avoid this provider: It’s very far from the entrance to the riverine swamps. So you have to spend a large part of your time crossing the lake to and fro. The lake when we went was windy and hence lot of waves and currents. Imagine kayaking 30 minutes with and then longer to kayak back against the current! Apart from the time and energy wasted, it’s not the safest especially if you aren’t a skilled Kayaker. Plus they don’t give us any safety jackets. Or any briefing. The guide who came with us was fast, was quite ahead of us in the lake waters and hardly ever looked back to see if we were doing ok. Never seen such irresponsible behavior. Remember there was not briefing or safety jackets. He could hardly speak English.

This place is so horrible, the service is terrible, they didn't want to give my friend the menu, and when I asked for it when I saw the waiter putting it down somewhere, I just asked for it, and he gave me a disgusted look, and shook his head no. I grabbed it anyways to see it and we ordered some things. Well after 2 hours of waiting the food was still not there, and everytime we asked for it, they told us 5 minutes, 5 minutes. Really bad service. Had to even grab the drinks our self, because after an hour we just wanted to drink something at least. We just cancelled the food after 2 hours of waiting and will never, ever be back here. Only the atmosphere for sunset etc is nice, but I would recommend Playa...

We rented kayaks at Playa Perú, it was okay! Our guide was really nice! We called beforehand and they arranged it already. The kayaks were polyester kayaks and a bit flat. I prefer the ones where you’re in the kayak, so my back is supported. That’s why: 4 stars. We didn’t really liked the kayaks to be honest.

Food is limited: Rice, beans, plantains and meat. That’s the combination or those are the options.

Music it restaurant was really loud and really noisy. Would not recommend sitting there. It was like a American college party with EDM music and cheap speakers, but without anybody there. Maybe in the evening...
