Last night I finally made it into this little good oasis. I have been to many restaurants across Nicaragua and I feel it is fair to say in general the food is fresh and made with fresh ingredients, but I find the food to be plane and lacking in anything other than natural raw flavor of the meats and few vegetables that can be found. But this place has taken several cultures and begun to mix real flavorful food with amazing local ingredients and presented in a beautiful manner in a very traffic free street and literally a place of refuge from the normal smells and noises of Managua. The food is very fairly priced in my opinion. The service is a little on the slow side. Which makes for a nice relaxing dining experience. I came to visit for dinner and then again for lunch. Both made for great experiences. For dinner I was able to try Anticuhos de filete res, very tender, perfectly cooked, with lots of flavor. Papa Rellena came looking not perfect but once I cut inside wow was I happy with that explosion of flavors. Ceviche de camarones was presented on a plate and I really enjoyed the flavors the shrimp seemed to be fresh and I was satisfied. For lunch I did a bit of a stretch and couldn't quite finish. But I went with Locro to start and thought I was getting into something vegetarian because of the bold title on the menu. (I didn't read the fine print) haha no very vegetarian after all. Buuut extremely good. I loved. Next up was the Causa with pulpo. That beautiful little volcano of delicious opened up to show pure happiness. But then came these little fried? Baked? Balls called Yuquitas. Such a delicate outer shell and a creamy delicious hot inner. Good choice of mellow Latin music and set to a good level for enjoying company and conversation. Absolutely...
Read moreI was curious about this place when I first saw it in Maps, so I decided to find out myself if dishes were so good as described by other people... And I found out that they absolutely have great tasting dishes.
The place itself is a terrace by all means, fresh and surrounded by a garden. Quiet as it is, turns out to be a good option to have a talk while enjoying great food. The service was fast and the waiter was such a friendly and professional person, he stepped by every 30 minutes to check if we needed anything.
Prices are more than fair for the flavors and exoticness of some dishes, and the portions are perfect, not to much, not too little.
I would go again anytime, preferably in the afternoon (I went in the evening this time) to enjoy the colors...
Read moreWe have lived in Managua for 18 months now and have tried many places to eat, we have been very disappointed with many but this was definately one we will be happy to go back to. The surroundings are very nice, the food is of great quality and the sweets delicious (we are from the UK and all our restaraunts serve sweets (puddings) which is not the case here. They have a good website with a full menu - a rarity here in Nicaragua. The staff were lovely but perhaps a bit forgeful - we did have to remind them of additional ordets. The Sangria first class too. Great night out well worth...
