Ate here every single day during my 9 day stay in Maderas! It was the only restaurant walking distance from where I was staying, and I am so glad that it was. The staff is extremely warm and welcoming, the place has a very cool and hip ambiance (perfect for working remote), and the food is amazing.
I tried almost every dish on the breakfast menu, my personal favorites being the smoothie bowl, the mango French toast, and the avocado toast. The smoothie bowl is so unique, made with roasted pumpkin and ginger and topped with their house made granola, giving it the perfect blend of savory and sweet. Their sourdough that they use for the French toast makes it unlike any other French toast. The avocado toast has hummus and is topped with feta, pickled onions, and the sweetest cherry tomatoes I’ve ever had. Can’t recommend enough!
Their coffee is also amazing, you can really taste the unique notes of the Nicaraguan beans, and do not miss out on the cookies or cinnamon rolls!
While their brunch and coffee are delicious, try to make it for dinner Thursdays-Sundays. Their whole fried snapper is cooked to perfection and has a delicious Thai style sauce and papaya salad. Skip out on the kale caesar though, it didn’t have kale… or caesar lol.
Overall I can’t recommend Machete enough, definitely try to make it if you’re ever in Maderas and be sure to say hi to the...

Atmosphere is beautiful and you can enjoy wandering the tree-filled paths behind the restaurant. High-quality ingredients and incredible cooking. I love the curried breakfast burrito so much. Fish tacos are yummy and piZZa on Fridays is always a hit, just come early if you don't want to wait. The staff is very kind. Please add more vegetarian items to the menu. Even the option to substitute tofu for meat on breakfast and lunch menu...
Read moreIf you want a laid-back ambiance with a great selection of music, look no further. It's open with nothing but life all around you, whether it's Howler monkeys howling and jumping from branch to branch, various birds, and the local restaurant mascot named Machete (cat). Most importantly, the FOOD. Generous sized portions, colorful and of quality. They make their own bread and have a little market for foods and such. Friendly staff and great service. RESERVE your pizza on Fridays only, for it is holy, at least I...
