I came here eat after work on 2 consecutive days. My experience on the first day was perfect and seamless. The waiter was friendly and prompt, the food was affordable and tasty and I was do some work on my laptop without interruptions. The next day I decided to do some work on my laptop because my order was taking longer than I expected. A waiter came to meet me saying “Use of laptops are not allowed”. She could not give a reasonable reason for this policy when I asked. So I stopped working and waited for my food. When my food arrived, the meat was not well cooked. I called on a different waiter to complain and she was hesitant to take action. I asked her to attempt cutting the meat, which she tried and noticed that it was too hard. She returned it to the kitchen and brought out a replacement that was also hard. I brought this to her notice and she offered to cut it up for me. At that point I decided to pay my bill and leave. The food at Native foods is generally nice and the ambience is relaxing but I do not think that the staff knows how to consistently keep track of orders during peak periods. I’m hoping in my next visit, their service will have improved.

On the first of October, the third day of a 4-day visit to Lagos, my wife and our hosts, my inlaws, said we should try "Native". It was a Sunday evening and off we went to Festac. They called in to order our meals of Pounded yam and fisherman soup and ofada rice with native stew. I anticipated what it would look like for a long time on the drive there and I wasn't disappointed. During my stay in Lagos (October 2019- April 2021) I wasn't really impressed with cuisine. It was either the soups were too peppery or too plain for a Rivers man like me. My preconceived notions were shattered, it was worth all the hype and a little more. I think I broke their pounded yam record by having 7 servings🤣. The soup was indeed nice, plenty and adventurous. The ambience is a sight to behold, watching the chefs prepare the food fresh was nouvelle for me, it was only the second restaurant in Nigeria i witnessed that, the fancy wash hand points are worthy of note too. Try them out and Let me know your Native Experience. Till next time✌️

The native restaurant is just on another level. This place is cozy, the atmosphere in here is nice. There is this feeling I always get once I step in here; calm, relaxed but this happens when there are no many guests. The interior is simple yet beautiful. I always felt like I stepped outside Nigeria each time I step in here. The lighting sets the mood for love. The lighting is soft so it has a way of making you relaxed plus the decor. There are some paintings of familiar faces hanging on the wall. The tech they use here I learnt is powered by Oracle. On every table, there is a button in it's middle which you press to call attention of a steward. The button is a bell which buzz each time pressed. The buttons have different functions, right press or left press means something. So kindly study when you get there. The stewards wear a wrist band like a watch. Once you press on the call button on your table, it buzzes on their wrist and gives information of the table they are called from. If you buzz too much and unanswered, the manager would come out. He monitors every buzz on a screen.

The food is amazing. They make fresh food on the spot for you at affordable prices. With 1000 naira you will belly full. Chai imagine eating freshly made vegetable soup. They make the food as fast as possible. It might be a little bit not fast, if people are much. While you wait for your food, you could take some freshly made juice. Ps: If you are really hungry, kindly go to fast food.

I remember while sick on admission some time, I left the hospital and came to satisfy my watermelon juice cravings. 😁 I was actually told to avoid Vitamin C then due to the medication I was on.

Native restaurant also offers...

I’ve been here 3 or 4 times or more since they opened and each time the service was the same...excellent! What is on the menu is actually available 😀 The decor is beautiful and the ambience very welcoming. As the name implies, they serve proper delicious native food (Swipe left to see menu). It wouldn’t actually make sense to go there to eat just Rice and Stew 🙄 when you can have Fisherman Soup, Banga, Afang, Native Rice, Native Sauce and more!

On this particular day I had Pounded Yam and Afang Soup with Periwinkle & Goat Meat while my guest had Pounded Yam and Banga Soup with Goat Meat. It was absolutely delicious! The serving was just right but for people like me who like our soup bowl filled, it can be challenging lol. We eventually requested for 3 takeaway meals and the total for the 5 meals came to under 7k which is not bad at all! Well prepared meal that tastes just like home food, yet affordable is a winner! But my best part of the restaurant is the see-through kitchen in the dining section! I Enjoyed watching the chefs work their magic right there. Parking is okay though the area can be busy at times. Have you visited...
