Read morePrior to this visit, I had heard comments about this place. "Its too expensive", "it's weird". So here's my Thought. Put this in mind, When you hear Tamberma just have Afrocentric in mind, you will understand their space better.
REVIEW It was hard to choose my favorite dish but I'll say this, The lamb sauce in hot plate is one of the best I've tasted so far(and trust me i have had a few), it has the perfect consistency, tasty and the lamb was tender. I love the "Prawn" in the chilli sauce but I didn't feel the chilli sauce like that. I also had the salmon fish in chilli sauce and all I can say is Omo×1000 The grilled lamb chops "IS A MUST TRY" even though I would have preferred it to be more juicy but I love that it was well marinated.
Pizza. Finding places in ibadan with tasty and good pizza options is extreme sport but they've managed to pull that off. The spicy suya pizza was extremely delicious, the crust was thin but still sat well and was filling. I had to try out both the beef and chicken suya (just because I couldn't make up my mind.)
ADVICE: You have to hold money well if you don't want to wash plates and mop the floor, Jokes apart their food here does not come cheap, coupled with the fact that you have to pay 10% and 7.5% as services charges and VAT respectively after paying for your meal(even though i feel some kind of way about the 17.5% extra). But above all they have a nice ambience and a real afrocentric space for pictures. In essence all I'm trying to say is I APPROVE WHAT I HAD💳 Strawberry Daiquiri- 2000 Tropical- 2000 Lamb in Hot Plate. Medium- 4000 Prawns in Chill Sauce- 5500 Beef Fried Rice Bowl- 1500 Grilled Lab Chops- 6000 Shrimp Fried Rice Bowl- 1500 Sliced Fish in Chilli sauce - 4200 Shredded Chicken in sauce - 3500 Beef Suya Pizza- 3000 Chicken Suya Pizza- 3000 VAT 7.5% SERVICE CHARGE 10%.

Read moreTamberma is a gem of a place, and you get a sense that the owners have put a lot in to it. They been deliberate in the impressions they want patrons to have when they visit and after they leave.
It's a setup that's out to make a mark on the local dining scene and there's no doubt that it also has it's eyes on the fledgling tourist market. So it's a huge plus that it is located in Ibadan, the historic and highly cultural university city.
I learned that It's just under a year old (some parts of it -- like the proposed art gallery) are still under construction), but once word of it spread, I see it becoming the go-to restaurant in town.
It's menu includes local, chinese and indian dishes. There is a pizza section and (if I'm not mistaken) there's soon to be ice-cream and a variety of snacks on the list of offerings.
People are going to come here for reasons more than cuisine -- they will flock the compound because of its impressive decor that's very heavy on indigenous items/objects --earthenware pots, local fabrics, and household-type furniture.
I particularly loved that the owners have reused some of the trees felled in the course of building to accentuate the overall outlook of the outdoor bar area.
Tamberma's owners are Indians who have lived in Nigeria's southwest for the better part of three decades. They understand the local culture and it's nuances and are happy and proud to promote it, which is a plus in itself
On the day of my visit, the management and staff were preparing to host a buffet lunch. I was in transit. Sad I couldn't wait to see the ambience with diners settle in to what I imagine would be a sweet experience.
Oh, and just in case you're wondering: the name is taken from a community in...
