Iya Oyo would be a 5 star for many if you're assessing only the favourite traditional meals and local setting. Iya Oyo is true to its Yoruba roots, serving only meals from the South-West of Nigeria. Even the rice & beans are served in Yoruba style. You would expect the unique peppery dishes but only the vegetable soup is that hot. Gbegiri & ewedu - amazing combo.

Everyone queues to be served, and Iya Oyo hosts over 60 customers an hour. The queue moves quickly though; needs better control at the soup point.

Iya Oyo has ample parking space so that your car is not blocked by another while you sweat over your plate of Amala. It also spots some cleverly hidden urinals outside - for men. Urinals for women must be secluded somewhere.

I give it a 3 star rating because service and staff attitude can be greatly improved. Consistency of the taste and quality of the kpomo needs checking, as well as availability of choice drinks. Reporting channels for complaints need to be provided. Also, Iya Oyo accepts ONLY cash...

One of the well known amala places in Abuja. they never have col they have no POS and the queues can be maddening but

Pro Food here is okay There is ample parking space

Cons No VIP AREA: Looks like a school cafeteria and everyone has to stand in line to buy food. The lines could be 30 people long on an average day. The staff can really test your patience(I try not to engage them,I just buy my food and go because any engagement with the staff will leave you wanting to set the place ablaze). You cannot use a POS machine here and they do not collect transfers(always come with cash) The beef and other protein sources tend to be undercooked a lot of the time.

They churn out an average of 200-300 single use food packs, plastic spoons,(double that amount of nylons), and PET bottles a day if I'm to make a guess and this is plastic that would end up in landfills, so I'd rate them 1 of 10 for...
