A vicious restaurant that overcharges tourists!
Oh my gosh, I can't believe such a restaurant exists. Most of the people I met while traveling in North Macedonia were kind and honest, but I feel completely deceived here. Especially on my birthday, experiencing this doubles the displeasure. After visiting St. Naum Church, we had a meal at this restaurant. At first, I didn't even doubt the appearance of the server who kindly recommended menus. I ordered 500 grams of grilled trout (1440 denars), grilled pork and mushroom sauce (600 den), two 0.3 liters of scops(?), and one coke (150 den), and the food came out quickly and enjoyed it. The problem broke out when calculating. They didn't even give me a receipt and pushed the card payment machine. I handed out my card without any doubt, and I paid only after listening to the trusted server. When I checked the receipt later, it was charged 300 den more than we thought. When I asked the server, he had the audacity to make an excuse, saying "Didn't you eat bread?" I didn't order bread or eat it. Only then did I feel that the situation was strange, and when I asked for the price of Scopscop beer, he said 240 den. I've never seen a place where I stayed in North Macedonia for three months and sold 0.3 liters of Scopscop for 240 den. Not only other restaurants, but also Zlaten DAB beer on the menu costs 160 den! I thought this was a ridiculous price, so I asked another server and they told me that it was 180 den or 3 euros. After hearing that, I went back to the original server. Then he reluctantly recalculated and acted by asking them to just go for two euros. Rather than admitting his wrongdoing, he was so angry at the attitude of acting as if it were natural to rip off tourists.
The act of ripping tourists off in this way ruins North Macedonia's good tourism image. Proper server training seems urgent. Those who read this article should be careful not to be subjected to the evil deeds of...
Read moreI experienced a price scam at a restaurant, something I hadn't encountered once during my three-month stay in Macedonia, from Skopje to Ohrid. So far, the Macedonian people I've met have been kind and honest, but this restaurant's server cunningly overcharged us. Initially, we were charged about 300 denars more than the total, so we went back to the restaurant. We told the server in charge that there was a problem with the bill. The server then asked if we had eaten bread (which we hadn't, so we showed them a picture of our meal) and claimed that a Skopsko beer cost 240 denars. (Zlaten beer was 160 denars and was listed on the menu, but the price for Skopsko was not.) Even if a Skopsko beer was 240 denars, there was still an issue with the total charge. At that point, the server took 2 euros out of their own pocket and gave them to us. We were about to leave after receiving the money, but we felt suspicious and decided to double-check the beer price with another server. The other server confirmed that a Skopsko beer was 3 euros (180 denars). We were so disappointed. We went back and confronted the dishonest server again. Instead of apologizing, they insisted their calculation was correct. Then, the server took another 2 euros out of their pocket, asking if we would be satisfied with that. We didn't care about the small amount of money; we just wanted them to admit their mistake and sincerely apologize, but there was no sign of remorse at all. I highly recommend you get your receipt and check the total before paying. Also, since the price for Skopsko beer isn't on the menu, it seems like a perfect...
