La Perla Restaurant & Pizzeria - Hamar — Restaurant in Hamar

The most uncomfortable dining experience in my whole life was here 😅 We were on the way from Geiranger to Oslo, but we decided to stay a night in the city of Hamar and we found this restaurant. Me, my husband and our son came during dinner time on saturday evening so this restaurant was packed. We entered the restaurant full of people who (most of them) starred at us, not only until we’re seated, but I caught some of them kept turning their heads and starred again at us even until we were about to leave the restaurant. It felt like we were some sort of attraction of the day there 😂. I felt so uncomfortable to the point I forced myself to eat fast, and asked my husband if we could leave this restaurant as fast as possible. I know that it is unusual for (maybe most of 🤷‍♀️) people in Norway to see a married couple like me and my husband (Indonesian hijabi with a blue-eyed Dutch), or maybe it was only me they found “interresting” to see, or our son, or my husband— I don’t know, but I thought it is very rude to stare at people, no?? Seriously, very rude…😅. Anyways, the pizza was huge and delicious, but I wasn’t really happy with the shrimp curry I ordered, it tasted like shrimp in a sweet fruit juice, I don’t know if it supposed to taste like that. I love La Perla, or at least I used to. This was my first visit for over 2 years what with Covid and all that so I am truly sorry to say the meal left me feeling distinctly underwhelmed. The service, cleanliness and friendly staff I would give a 20/10 as always, above and beyond but the food not so much tonight as unfortunately my steak must have come from a cow that had seen better days. It was a real jaw exercise and I called it quits halfway through. The salad was not the fresh crisp crunchy delight I remember from years past and the fried potatoes strongly resembled wedge shaped frozen french fries more than potatoes. I would like to think I was just unlucky on a busy Saturday night during the Christmas party season as the other two in the party loved their Kebabs and I will go back and try again...look for an updated...

By far the best pizza in Hamar area and for a reasonable price. Other meal options are great as well. This place is so popular that it can be quite crowded in the evenings, especially in the weekend.

The service is friendly, kind and understanding! It can be a bit noisy at times in the restaurant because of how many people are dining in. Maybe not the right place if you are looking for a quiet and relaxed atmosphare.

Excellent for take away dining! 10/10 am going to be enjoying food from this restaurant again....
