ESSA — Restaurant in Oslo

We had our Xmas party at work. The 2nd floor was occupied by us, 15 pax. Very intimate. They prepared a long table for us as we had requested, cutleries / glasses could have been a bit extra, like a table cloth / runner for ex. , but I was allowed to put some centerpieces, made it cozy a bit. The food was generous, we are satisfied of the taste. The drinks were reasonably priced. We did not need to wait long for our food as we have agreed to have it served as agreed upon. The service was exceptional. Poor guy had to climb to the second floor a lot of times though. Unfortunately we had to share toilet from the guests downstairs, a bit bothersome. There was only one other table there when I walked in with my mom at 5:30pm. However, it took the waitress forever to attend to us, and to take our orders and to even give us our drinks. Do note that the drinks fridge was 10cm away from my mom’s chair, and there is no need to delay anything by 10 minutes if it’s right in front of you.

Overall ok. Will go back for the food. But the waitress does not prioritise the tables or service and ignored eye contact when I was trying to get the bill.

Such a lovely dinner experience, we can’t wait to return. The ambience alone is worth a visit, with forest and sounds of the nearby river, calm music, and picnic tables under fairy lights for a peaceful feel.
