We came at 8pm and they said us that in half an hour they stop cooking, even their opening hours are to 9.30pm. We sat down at a pretty nice and cute place and they brought us nice jar of water. We discovered that there is an QR code that you need to scan through your smart phone and through that order it. I thought its just one of two ways of ordering so I went to ask the staff and they said that just through the qr code. We tried (in a lot of stress) order, but it didnt take our credit cards... I then again asked another staff if it is possible to order it and he said that we should just come to the window to order it. We then ordered our meals. After all of this we didn't get one of the meals which one very very kind staff member tried to solve our problem. She was very kind and she kinda saved our whole experience with this restaurant.
Anyways the food was delicious and the place is by the sunset amazing just the restaurant owner should make some real decisions with...
Read moreThe place itself is gorgeous and the location beyond most else. A lovely place to enjoy a summer day with friends or family. We had shrimps and beers in lovely weather. Food was fresh and nice.
The problem (read: large problem) here is the service - it must sadly be one of the most chaotic ones I have experienced in Oslo. We had to ask twice for somebody to clean our table from previous guests, before going inside to ask again at the desk. We had to drink our beers in between the previous guests dirty plates and glasses, as we were served without the waiters taking any former used dishes away.
They also lack a system for finding out who ordered what and we got both wrong drink and food…. Sadly the service reduce the experience quite a bit, as it all seems very stressed both inside and outside.
I recommend coming another time then on a sunny weekend - cause the food and location is really nice. But for quite a steep price, the chaos is...
Read moreA friendly, low-key pub in a unique location on a small island in the Oslo fjord with spectacular views from the patio. I have been coming here for over twenty years. It’s always been a bit of a hidden gem, but it seems word is getting out these days. The facilities have been substantially upgraded, but the overall impression is of a secluded, relaxed and other worldly spot. The service is coolly impersonal; you place your order via the QR code which is glued to the table top and the meal is brought out when ready. Interacting with the staff is openly discouraged, and this is perhaps what lets the place down. Like the city of Oslo across the water, it all feels rather distant. Updates: a great deal of this island is now closed to the public due to environmental clean up. So swimming and hiking is...
