I recently visited Habibi Restaurant in Jhelum after hearing a lot of hype and reading positive reviews. I traveled all the way from Mirpur, Azad Kashmir, expecting a great dining experience, but unfortunately, the food did not meet my expectations.
Food Quality & Taste
We ordered chicken biryani, mutton karahi (half), and fries. Sadly, the food quality was disappointing: • Chicken Biryani – The rice lacked flavor, and the chicken was undercooked, making it unpleasant to eat. There was no real depth of taste, and I’ve had much better biryani elsewhere. • Mutton Karahi – This dish was also undercooked, and the texture of the meat was not enjoyable. It didn’t have the rich, well-balanced flavors one would expect from a good karahi. • Alfredo Pasta (which we received as a replacement for the biryani) – This was equally disappointing. The sauce was bland and lacked the creamy, flavorful taste you would expect from a proper Alfredo pasta.
Service & Staff
One thing I appreciated was that the staff was polite and professional. When I mentioned my concerns about the food, they responded respectfully and tried to accommodate by offering an alternative dish. However, they also insisted that their biryani was good and claimed they had never received complaints before. While their approach was courteous, it didn’t change the fact that the food quality was subpar.
Ambiance & Facilities
On the positive side, the restaurant has a great atmosphere, with a nice view and a well-maintained, clean environment. The bathrooms were clean, which is always a plus. The parking space was limited, but manageable.
Final Verdict
While Habibi Restaurant offers a pleasant ambiance and good service, the food was not worth the trip. If you plan to visit, I would not recommend trying the biryani, mutton karahi, or Alfredo pasta. Perhaps other menu items are better, but based on my experience, I would not return. It was disappointing to travel such a long distance only to be let down by the food quality.
If you’re visiting purely for the ambiance and experience, it might be worth checking out, but if good food is your priority, I would suggest...
Read moreVisited Habibi restaurant with my peers yesterday to test it, and ordered their Special Soup as a starter the taste of it was bland, was mostly getting the taste of peanuts, had to add vinegar to get some taste out of it. To check different varieties, ordered Rajasthani Tikka (the taste was good but not as good as Ajwa's). Ordered Madrasi Mutton Baryani (was served Chicken Madrasi Biryani which they claimed that they repeated the order after taking it but it was in their today's special and that's why we ordered it and we clearly remember ordering the mutton one which they never accepted) taste was OK, rice quantity was good but the chicken quantity was very less. We also asked about their best chicken steak, BBQ steak was recommended so we ordered it with Fries on the side (we were served with Mashed potatoes which they accepted was their mistake and said they would give us an extra plate of fries which came after when tikka, rice, and steak were finished, and quantity/size of the steak was good but the taste of the sauce was a disaster). We also ordered their special makhani chicken handi (we mostly tasted garlic and ginger paste in the handi, the overall taste was just ok). After the Soup whole order was served in 15-20 mins which is good but they served all the dishes at the same time (they didn't ask about the order and also didn't use their common sense) so by the time when handi's number came all the naan in the naan basket were cold, we requested to refresh the basket which then again took 15 mins.In the end, we ordered only 1 fresh lime which tasted like a ENO, and in the bill, 3 fresh limes were added (which later was adjusted in the bill). They have a vast sitting area which they have infested with too much decor and furniture which was suffocating, and even there was too much cold they didn't turn on the heating. There were playing loud tasteless music which we requested to turn down (which they did) They have large parking space which is good, the food prices are high but BEWARE THEY DON'T ACCEPT CARD PAYMENTS. Overall I don't think I am going to visit...
