I feel it's just as fair to rate this place, so be it! Khatri Biryani isn't the biryani one would expect to buy from other biryani vendors in the town, but something quite different. If you're a biryani connoisseur, be sure to check them out! Located in Godhra colony, near the Muslim Khatri Anjuman building, the whole street is dedicated to various biryani vendors, each with their own recipes for Khatri Biryani. The most prominent are the Qadris and Muhammad Iqbal Warsi which are located just beside the Eidgah entrance, dedicated as a parking place the rest of the year. The location may be quite far for many people in the town, though; plan your visit beforehand! So even with the prominent ones, it may be a tricky suite to choose which exactly you wish to try; could get into a game of random guessing because all of them are rated to be really good by people. Talk about such a fierce competition... Personally, I decided to try Muhammad Ali Qadri's biryani. The rates were reasonable for the quantity, in my opinion. I've had some people say the quantity was less, but for me, it was at 'just right' level for a full plate. Feel free to try others too, each one is just as deserving to try their offering. Now, the question: "How is this different?" Firstly, the biryani uses veal meat, which is unusual for a dish that's dominated by poultry for tastes and economic reasons. This may sound fancy, but veal is preferred by many Gujarati people in this town. Also, the biryani uses a slightly different set of spices that may resemble that of a Pulao; yet, I must reiterate, this is NOT a Pulao. The taste was quite delicious, but the biryani did feel a little greasy which put me off at some points. Nevertheless, coupled with the fresh salad that you could buy just beside the biryani shops really adds a plus point to the experience overall. However, the place does lack the element of inclusivity and it feels the street is not really adapted to dine-in. There aren't much tables at any place in the street to enjoy the biryani on the spot, given the size of each restaurant itself. There are no areas dedicated to families, which may be a bit of a letdown, but given the location, it's more economical, I presume. Either ways, the best idea is to get a takeaway for home to enjoy...
