This might be my new favorite restaurant in the whole wide world—for many reasons. First and foremost, the food is incredible! My husband and I both ordered smoked fish tacos with salsa picante. The first bite was so delicious I almost swooned! Each part of the taco was remarkable—the perfectly crisped corn tortilla, the crunchy shredded cabbage and red onions, the adobo, and the oh so perfect heat of the salsa—and oh my, the smoked dorado! Sublime. We sat in the garden and ordered beers. We were surprised to find it was happy hour (Balboas, two for one!). The cerveza was served with insulated glasses that kept our drinks frosty until the last drop. Because it was evening, there were mosquitoes—but when I asked for insect spray, they gave us a natural oil that worked perfectly (and smelled lovely). The drinking water was served complimentary, refilled without asking, and with biodegradable straws. And when we ordered another meal to go (it was that good!), the wait staff brought it in biodegradable containers, in a brown paper bag. The aesthetic of the restaurant, connected shop, and garden, is beautiful, sophisticated urban hipster-meets-laid back beach scene. There was great live music. I wasn’t surprised at all to see most of the other clients appeared to be young professionals, very cosmopolitan. We hadn’t intended to go out on a date (we had our little boy with us), but the whole experience just made it feel like we’d done something really special. We all loved it! I can’t...
Read moreWe had ceviche (they let you know what's the catch of the day) for starters and it was good, comes with some totopos 👌
To drink I tried out the Maagoo drink which is like a fruit punch with ginger and has all of the fruit pulps in there which was nice to see and a very good, refreshing drink.
For mains we had the Grilled Fresh Burrito which is quite huge and the 2 fish taco dish. The Burrito had at least some flavor to the fish but the 2 taco's which were with smoked tuna were basically tasteless in terms of the tuna. I felt like I was eating a pineapple pico de gallo taco honestly.
Service was good although the waitress I think she was new, needs a bit of practice and give customers some time to look through the menu before asking and waiting for you to order something right away 🥲. It was a weird interaction as she didn't get my clues to give us some time even though I basically said it straight out twice.
A really nice touch was seeing the manager/owner coming by the table and asking if everything was fine.
Prices are also a bit high so combining this with the food overall (2 mains) we both will probably not come back. Didn't feel like we got delicious food for...
Read moreThis place is truly a gem in Panama City. The owner, Carlito, passion shows through in every detail. He is an architect, wood craftsmen, engineer and extremely creative genius who has literally designed this place from the bottom up.
He designed and built the restaurant, did the Japanese art work, carved the wood and created the concrete to a top grade level. This all comes together to produce such a cool, chilled out beach/ carribean atmosphere but in style and quality you rarely see in Panama.
That’s just the foundation. He polishes it all of with his awesome personality and insane stuffed fish tacos! He truly is a master of all trades and has perfected each thing on his menu.
My personal favorite are the tacos (2 is definitely enough for one person), the homemade earthy nachos and the carribean curry ceviche that has the perfect heat.
His deserts did not disappoint either.
A great place to spend the evening with friends or family passing the night away enjoying your time and chilling in the...
