I stayed at this hotel with a large group and many of us experienced: Extremely slow service like 30+ minutes to get your food. Repeatedly they get the order wrong and the kitchen staff makes repeated mistakes or misses things. This is one example that happened today: 1sr time the sandwich came, I ordered it with No tomatoes (slight allergy) and it came with tomatoes. I didn’t take a photo of that. Fortunately caught it before I ate - after waiting 25+ minutes. Second sandwich came fairly quickly but had just cheese and lettuce, not the other things. Third sandwich came but was missing pickles and other items written on the menu that the sandwich would have.
I gave up after the third effort and it had now been 45 minutes.
By the way, this was on a day when their restaurant was 90% empty and they had several staff working.
On a previous visit a couple days earlier, we actually talked to the service manager, Roberto, because he came by and asked how things were. I asked him if he really wanted to know and he did.
I shared that his staff really needed some training and amongst our group (over 100 people) we were warning each other not to eat here unless you had plenty of time and patience to keep correcting the order.
Roberto himself helped us fix most of the order, but he’s just one person. I do appreciate his efforts and hearing us.
I recommend either avoid this place or go prepared to be disappointed and maybe they will have changed it or at least you were...
Read moreParty of 6 ordered dinner a la carte at StarFish Grill. Do not recommend. We waited 1 hour 45 minutes for our food--simply too long. We asked 2 different servers where our food was. While the steak and fish dishes were good albeit expensive at $24 to $28, the $14 overpriced pasta dish was just boiled spaghetti and jarred sauce, no cheese, no basil or garnish, no offer of fresh cracked pepper, and the portions were so small that we walked away still hungry. The quinoa and hummus tostadas, though reasonably priced at $8, were not tostada (toasted) at all - they were soft corn tortillas topped with hummus, raw salad with no dressing, and half a paltry teaspoon of quinoa (and the waiter didn't know what hummus was - when I ordered the item, word-for-word off of the menu in Spanish, he seemed utterly confused). Finally, the waiter dropped the bill and left so quickly that we had to go chasing after him to pay. He then refused to allow us to pay via the room, insisting that their machine was broken - and instead made me pay by credit card. Yet their credit card machine was working, so I don't understand what that was about. Would not return. They can do better immediately with little training and almost no cost by being more attentive, providing faster service, being more knowledgeable about the menu, providing larger portions of pasta with fresh basil and pepper, and putting more quinoa on...
Read moreI went to have dinner from where I was staying down the road. I was literally THE ONLY ONE THERE! I ordered a steak "done," hoping to finally get a steak as I wanted and specified to the server that I wanted it pink with no blood. He ordered it cooked 3 quarters, saying that it would be as I wanted it. It took a while. First cut, from the steak's edge, and blood came out all over. It was taken back with my request to be "well done" this time. After a while, it came back and was quite nice. I liked the mashed potatoes but the vegetables were too raw for my taste. I wish I had ordered the fries instead of the vegetables. The mojito was a bit tar, but okay. But they don't believe in straws, is lips on glass. I tipped the server around 15%. I thought I was being generous, considering the service, but he seemed disappointed. Still, I enjoyed the steak when it was finally...
