Bottom line, the Octagon is pretty far outside of Dumaguete. Will watch another event there, maybe without a qualm and enjoy some cold beer while there. Will not eat another meal, though. This was the second time that I patronized the place. The first meal was mediocre, at best. That was two years ago Arrived early with two friends to watch the super bowl. They have many mounted televisions and a big curvy bar with, maybe 40 comfortable wicker backed stools. Was charged 200P to sit at the bar. Two chips are given for one complimentary drink, each. Fair enough, to keep freeloaders from monopolizing a space, just to watch a game. Was happy to pay the charge Two of us ordered the American breakfast. The other, a Western Omelette. Thought it a good idea to order a meal before it got busy. Noticed they had a proper sized coffee mug and fresh brewed coffee. A welcomed sight. Cashed in my first chip. The coffee is good, but the mug too big. Each of our mugs are a tad more than half full, only. Mine and the other American breakfast arrived together. Both plates arrive the same, cold fried eggs, cold bacon, cold toast and properly hot hash browns. Didn't complain, but did laugh as we ate our breakfast, drank the good coffee and the girls collected our plates, etc. The third person of our party asked about his Omelette, again and, again assured it was being prepared. The game has been underway and there is a healthy crowd. We used our second chip for a beer. Tossed around the idea of getting a Heineken on tap, gave consideration to the coffee mug scenario and unanimously agreed, with a chuckle, on ordering three bottles of beer. The beer is cold and it went down nicely. Still no Omelette. Couldn't help but notice that people who weren't even in the place when we ordered were having plates of food put infront of them. This prompted our unfed one to stop with asking the barmaid, walked back into the kitchen and asked the cook to make his Omelette, now, please. He was obliged. When it arrived, it was hot and he said...

Beware, Waitresses will try to scam. The menu says a Pilsen is 65 pesos, waitress tried to charge me 80, then said 75, finally settled on 70. Then she went and sat at the bar drinking red horse and gossipping about me with another customer. Is this normal behaviour?
edit: This happened Tuesday, March 26th about 9 pm. I've stayed at the octagon rooms 14 nights over the past two years, always booked on airbnb, but this time I tried to walk...
Read moreAfter snorkeling at Uzi Beach we headed at this restobar to rent a motorbike for our over-the-weekend scuba diving getaway in Dumaguete. Before heading back to our hotel, we ordered our usual refreshment - beer! However, the menu was very appetizing!
